'Chromatica' Discussion - ACT III

I think my problem with Free Woman is that it’s trying to go for the gut with its message but the most impact happens when she belts “I’m a free woman” in the post-chorus. Her cadence in the verses almost sound like gibberish to the casual ear, and when you listen closer, you realize the lyrics are only going an inch deep. “I’m not nothing unless I know I can” or “unless I don’t care” just feels like the lowest lyrical effort to me. Gaga’s a snappier writer than this. But I also know it’s a demo potentially from 2018, so I hope she improved it. 

Usually the high adrenaline songs that I’m most critical of become my favorites, so watch this end up being my top Chromatica track, lol

am i the only one who finds themself expecting the song to explode into a super fast chorus at 1:08 every time? 

 

anywho, i wonder what will be different in the final version. i imagine the tempo will be a tad faster, especially around the "i say that i want it want it" part

The full track isn't mastered, it doesn't sound like the instrumental is mastered because there are volume issues and certain synths are louder than the others. Her vocals have a filter over it and its why people think its LQ vocals on a HQ instrumental... they just need to brighten her vocals and make them  "pop" a little more. 

Its noticeable that she seems to not enunciate properly... so it could literally be a demo to see how she sounds on the track and stuff like that

I'm actually surprised that there was no reference to "i'm a free bitch, baby" - I genuinely thought there was going to be a sample or at least a self-referencing moment in the song.

I can totally imagine her shouting "Replay" after this and the beat drops

Yesterday I got update about rescheduled Iron Maiden concert, today Rammstein updated their social media (both concerts were scheduled in July in my country) so I’m waiting now for Chromatica

We'll see about that... I find it amazing that someone who has never seen or heard the album, or even possess the album, can know the track lengths of songs. Incredible psychic abilities

You’re 100% right. The “free womaaaan” belts are the best things about this songs. The verses really don’t do anything for me lyrically or sound-wise. I see people praising the lyrics, but they only seem half-baked. I certainly think that with more production effort from other producers and some rewritten lyrics, this could be one of the best songs on the album if it’s done right.
