I never understood this fanbase taste and oner hyping the demos. There's two demos that were better than the original:

- Alejandro

- The tame impala PI

I am hoping free woman is a demo it needs more mastering and things adding to it.

 Bonus:

the iTunes festival versions of ARTPOP which were like 50x better. The original manicure with the instrumental breakdown, Sexxx Dreams. >>>

This just isn't accurate at all. Yes Stereo Mastering is the simplest way to do it, but Stem Mastering is a thing as well - it depends on the needs of the song when it's used. Typically it's most useful when working on a song or project that you may need multiple versions of. Pop songs commonly will use it because it makes it easier to go and make changes, new mixes or have instrumentals later on should they need them - which is very important since bigger artists have their songs used for other media all the time. That being said we don't know what stage of mixing or mastering any part of this Free Woman could be in - all we can do is listen and identify the instrumental sounds more or less "Complete" and the vocals don't.

Had an interesting discussion over on another thread about this, but what you're saying is nebulous and hardly pertains to the topic at hand, of a demo for a single song. Stems mastering would've probably not been performed for what is clearly a demo.

I am well aware of what you say (although I don't have a clue why it's only pop songs that might need to go and make changes!) but in general, mastering is mastering. Take a few sources (some more dubious than others, but quite conclusive in combination):

Wikipedia: Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication).

Landr: Mastering is the final step of audio post-production. The purpose of mastering is to balance sonic elements of a stereo mix and optimize playback across all systems and media formats.

iZotope: Mastering is the term most commonly used to refer to the process of taking an audio mix and preparing it for distribution.

Omg I'm sooooo obsessed with a f*cking demo!!!! So catchy I cannot imagine how good the final version is. I sense some strong EDM à la Boys Noize on the master and stronger vocals :bradley:

I don't get the love for the iTunes festival versions

I've watched the show countless times but still out of my memory I can't remember the difference in Manicure and the only things I remember about ARTPOP and Sexxx Dreams is that  ARTPOP had the "hee hee's" and Sexxx Dreams was missing the deep voice

Other than ARTPOP I've never saw the appeal of these version and even with ARTPOP it isn't such a big difference:neyde:
