DiskoBaby 1,929
I can easily ask why don't gay men support male singers as much as they do female singers. Where were you when it came to supporting Frank Ocean, a gay singer when his albums came out. Why weren't you all lining up for his albums to break records. Why isn't he the big gay icon? Or supporting Tyler the Creator who has a weird and eccentric image that makes Gaga look normal, where's his record breaking sales? You love camp and eccentricity with Gaga so go out and buy his records. Or Kanye West during his crazy eccentric Yeezus era? Why is it that most gays here didn't know about Kendrick Lamar until he decided to work with Gaga? Where were you when his albums came out and didn't do as well as the pop girls in terms of sales. White gay men like to point out gay discrimination and saying they show solitary to minorities but you weren't out listening to To Pimp a Butterfly that bluntly talked abut those issues. While plenty of white straight men were. You would rather bop to Beyonce's Formation then listen to Kendrick's Alright or I Love Myself. Or how about how Tame Imala didn't reach the gay universe until Lady Gaga and Rihanna worked with them? "But I liked them before that" well their sales this year didn't show the gay love. Why don't you love Drake and Bruno Mars as much as you love Beyonce and Ariana Grande? Or when Daft Punk brought disco music back in 2013, a genre that was celebrated by gays and poc I didn't see any of them claim Get Lucky as a gay anthem like ya'll did with Applause. Plus straight men were here for Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey last year. They all showed love for Kacey Musgraves claiming that she's saving country music. Lorde is respected among them. Adele wouldn't have sold all those albums if straight men weren't buying them. Didn't Taylor Swift have a cult following of indie rock listeners when Red came out? Or how the alt right and 4chan claimed her as their queen? Do you knw how many straight men would have supported Gaga if she came out making music like Shallow instead? Why are most of ya'll choosing to stan over Dua Lipa over The Weeknd? I can easily say straight men have better taste in music because they don't need to have a packaged image to sell to them and just care about the music. Maybe gay men have a male problem when it comes to music and only like to stan for pretty pop singers.
Allan 3,881
They usually have a wider demographic and even when the songs are trashy and not relatable at all, it's still socially accepted to listen to them because it's "trendy" and you're just "vibin". Maybe the only thing that can beat that is when female singers go powerhouse and release highly relatable songs while keeping the looks modest (i.e. Gaga in ASIB, Adele)
