I haven't been wearing a mask. I'm not sick and everyone around me already wears one.

This irritates me so much.

You're not wearing a mask for yourself, be considerate of those around you.

But these are the same people that believe the conspiracy theories and that everything is just over-hyped by the media. :madge:

At least some places are requiring them now.

The thing is I don't live in a major city, I live in a small town. No one here has Covid-19. People are running around in masks but they're still touching things with their bare hands. No one at my grocery store is coughing or sneezing on anyone. I wanna point out that no one was the precautious during flu season either.

Touching things with your bare hands and just washing them frequently is much better than wearing the same pair of gloves and touching everything with them.  This is why medical professionals use a new pair of gloves everywhere they go.  Cross contamination is more harmful than just washing your hands.

Masks don't help *that* much, pretty much nobody is wearing them in the Netherlands (there's not even enough for elderly care workers, let alone 17 million people), but our infection rate is going down just like in other countries at the moment. Keeping 6ft/150cm distance is pretty similar to wearing a mask in its effects. Not taking it off/putting it on properly or using it unhygienically puts you at extra risk.

Ahhh America, where every tiny detail has to be politicized even if it means putting others lives at risk.

What a country :enigma:

How small? Has everyone been tested, you dont even need to answer.

And this regular flu argument just doesnt stick. Its a new virus that still has limited data, with no proved completely effective treatment and still not even near a vacine.

The whole world is on alert. This is no big conspiracy going around. Its safer to go out with a mask. It doesnt kill you, and gloves ofc, and if you can glasses.

Were trying to minimize the probabilities. Thats vey simple

Not wearing a mask doesn't make that much of a difference. And I'd like to see a study showing if it does in relatively small towns. I don't live in New York. I don't live in a dirty germ congested city that should be quarantined. So I understand why people in big cities are precautious. But the rest of the country doesn't reflect New York. My city is on a lock down even though there are no reported cases of it. And I bet the same is also for small "red towns" in the country. They're not wearing masks because no one around is coughing and sneezing everywhere theu go and everywhere we go we see employees bleaching the floors, spraying the rooms, washing every item in the store, and putting wet wipes and hand sanitizers everywhere and keeping their distance. A mask isn't going to save our lives here.
