60s. Chromatica is coming for 90s house bops with no substance or innovation from what it sounds like so far. Could be wrong though

i don't get it, why bring up SL's chart run and then mention formation which peaked lower than SL did

I am sorry when said stellar, I meant it made a lot of noise in terms of press due to the racial controversy + a Super Bowl performance. It was a cultural event.

Beyoncé was dumb af for not making Formation available on ITunes half of the tracking week irrc, and not on Spotify or AM for almost 3 years or so. But it somehow managed to get to #10 which explained the demand of it.

Stupid love is made as to be a SIO, a chart smash which will help its perception. Yet it’s failed to do its only duty. Eventually no one outside Gaga’s stans remember it. Neither it was made to be a novelty sound. Hence it’s the reason why metaccritics should be the last thing we should expect to be high.

Please ignore the spelling in username. I am a Beyonce stan afterall.

Gaga is a controversial artist and a lot of her albums came out in a time when pop music wasn’t taken as seriously, that’s why her scores are relatively low.

Now it seems like even the most random pop album gets a 75+, and I feel like critics and the media in general have been extremely positive when it comes to her since the ASIB era.

I feel like all of those things combined will result in Chromatica being her first 80+ album.

...BUT she has a very heavy oscar statue to hit them all with if they dare give her low scores :huntyga:

i mean, with kindness i suppose

I don't really think this is true, pop albums are just getting better now. Pop albums got sh*t on all the time by critics in the early 2010s because everything was a carbon copy of each other, the same chord progressions, the same big choruses, the same pool of producers making every single hit. Pop music has gotten better, the genre isn't popular enough anymore for people to just put out half baked albums and secure themselves hits, they need to work for it, and it's coming out with better results

Also the fact that critics tend to just ignore albums they don't feel deserve reviews these days.

Btw, I expect Chromatica to have a low score doesn’t mean I expect it to be a bad album. I hate crittics, most of their acclaimed albums aged like milk. Lemonade and FN are prime example where two albums had a strong impression but failed to withstand the test of time. So I couldn’t care less tbh.

TINDER

I'd say if it's 75 I'll be happy, anything above 80 would be Cherry on top!

Even asib didn't reached that level, and it was her critical darling period!

Ya, I know Dua got her score in 80s, and I bet Chromatica will be on par with or even better then FN!

And I loved FN!
