Maleficent 6
So if I use #MayThe4th and @DisneyPlus in the same sentence, that sentence is owned by Disney... Time to let Disney go bankrupt @Donald Trump
Guest
From the looks of it they're intending to use that as a tracking hashtag for their marketing systems for aggregating to determine how successful the release of the Star Wars thing they're putting on Disney Plus will be. But that's just a guess.

Time to let Disney go bankrupt @Donald Trump No, they do not own your work - they never said that? It's just letting people know that if they reply to that tweet with that hashtag that it may be used in a Disney publication.
joannesrats 26
They never once mentioned trademarking anything or owning anyone's tweets. Please form some semblance of legal competency
MonsterOfficial 11,079
I think they're gonna compile the tweets in a special video or something, that's why they tweeted that to avoid legal actions from twitter users if they see their tweets exorcise my mind

Nemo 4,294
They're not trying to trademark a hashtag, but, they are asserting an automatic copyright license (from you to them) on any replies in that form. Not sure how that jibes with Twitter's terms of service. Normally, of course, people would just quote your tweets without asking you or warning you. Arguably, that's fair use. And the whole nature of the medium is that you (probably) want your tweets to be as widely read as possible. But they're talking about quoting you outside of Twitter, so they wanted to cover their asses. It reads weird, it IS weird, but ultimately, it's not sinister. It says, in effect, "if you give us a blurb-able tweet, we'll use it in exactly the way you'd expect us to use it." And, of course... they won't pay you.
