‘Hunger Games’ Director Francis Lawrence Returning for Prequel Movie

Francis Lawrence, who helmed three of Lionsgate’s “Hunger Games” movies, is returning to direct a feature adaptation of author Suzanne Collins’ “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” a prequel novel to Collins’ bestselling “Hunger Games” trilogy. 

No cast or release date was announced.

Set roughly 64 years before “The Hunger Games,” “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” follows an 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow, who would eventually rise to become the authoritarian ruler of the dystopian nation of Panem, and the central villain of the original “Hunger Games” series. In Collins’ prequel, Snow is chosen to be a mentor for the 10th annual Hunger Games — for a young girl from District 12, the future home of Katniss Everdeen. 

Scholastic will publish “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” on May 19 in the US, Canada, the UK and Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

I used to be obsessed with the Hunger Games. But the 2 Mockingjay parts disappointed me. I'm ready to get back on the train though. Especially if we're gonna see an arena again. Perchedt.

OT: I'm so excited  I've read the first book actually too many times(it's double digits but not in the 10-19 range  ) and know a lot of the script of all the movies   I'm so ready for this

I was such a hunger games stan in middle school, I read all the books in eight grade and then watched the movies the day they premiered  They really did the last book wrong tho 

I hope the new book is good, Snow's origin story could be very interesting!
