Poppers are quite prevalent in the gay community. It can be used as a fun stimulant when you're clubbing but is also useful for **** sex. It's a short buzz and I've never really enjoyed it. To me it just feels tingly and heavy, like a pre-headache feeling? Anyways, it shouldn't be too shocking someone like Sam would be into it :laughga:

but you’re right, I’ve always found popper use quite gross. And last time I read about, the effects weren’t healthy at all. Someone needs to research or discuss gay men using drugs like meth, poppers, cocaine, and others to achieve sexual gratification. It’s pervasive throughout the community.

It can ruin sex though.
my boyfriends old relationship the sex life got ruined because of it, every time before Sex they had to do popper and they would do more and more and it just wasn’t good as it used to have been so they just didn’t have sex anymore and turned to having sex with many other people.    Poppers are reductive

This. Why are drugs and risky sex so prevalent, and intermixed in our community? I understand having fun and living a little, but my impression recently has been that this is the only way to be gay. Like if you decide not to do a certain drug, or want to use protection during a hookup, you are majorly looked down on. They call you boring, vanilla, not a 'real gay, a loser, everything possible. Like the expectation going in to any gay interaction is just they we all do drugs and engage in risky sex practises. And like I said, that is fine for some people, but we should each be treated with respect for our choices.

Sidenote: another toxic side to this is that noone should disrespect or torment anyone over their choices, because you don't know what they've been through which has caused them to want to live a more controlled lifestyle. I know gay people who feel like they can't date because they are recovered drug addicts and get pressured into doing drugs by other gays. I know people who have been sexually abused and have a hard time trusting sexual partners, and they get bullied and looked down on by the gay community for not being hyper-sexual. It is not okay.

(even writing this out I feel self conscious that other gays on here are going to judge me for being 'prudish' and give me LMAO reactions or quote me and mock me, even though I said I'm open minded to everyone's lifestyle choices)

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I totally agree that using poppers every time you have sex would lead to dependency issues and ruin your sex life, its unmoderated and reliant behaviour. Anyone doing poppers should only occasionally use it to experience something different.

don't worry, I completely agree. And I don't really understand the whole lighthearted approach to this, I mean, they're freaking drugs after all.
