I'd definitely would love for them to expand their products, I agree. They have cool "basic" items, but I would hope they'd venture out into general pigments (hell, facepaints), unconventional foundation colors, etc.

Yeah it was supposed to be the first of many, wasnt it released in October tho? HL is going suuuper slow, and the industry is too competitive for that. 

Love your idea about facepaints, and the brand really needs something to set it apart.

I think the brand could definitely benefit by leaning a little into the preconceived expectation of “oh it’s Gaga so the makeup must be wild”. I felt that way initially about the face lace eye masks, and how they could also be used as a stencil. Like? That’s a cool idea! Do more of that!

Like I understand starting a little more conventional at first to kind of ease the way in- it definitely helps that the products are of good quality. 

But now, I think going a little more out of the box would be for the better. I think they’re slowly doing that, but they could go a little harder. I mean come on! Face paints!

The industry is way too oversaturated, people dont need conventional stuff to be attracted to a brand, because people who use conventional stuff already have probably dozens of brands that give them what they need. HL needed from the start to do it like Jeffree Star, where every collection he makes, includes both conventional and very daring stuff. He even designs the palette layouts thinking about that. 

HL's packaging is depressing too.

 

I want to see HL succeed and I want them to dominate the industry, and so far I doubt theyll get there.

Good points, and I agree! Especially with regards to packaging- it's Gaga. She can do streamlined and clean and eccentric and colorful.

I also want them to succeed and grow and become a big name! But sometimes it feels like they're okay with a steady, small, and consistent path. I know Gaga once mentioned that she wanted these products to work universally with other products, and I'm wondering if the company wants to stay in that lane.
