Why Gaga didn't perform her own songs

I would never use this time to promote one of my songs even if they will fit perfectly the situation. I support Gaga choice of not making her singing moment not a inch about her but about people. 
She does not hate her discography, she is a shapeshifter and could do anything. 
Kudos to her!

Do you see? That's what I'm saying. I don't know, maybe part of my message got lost in the title maybe a little too provocative, but what I mean is that Stewie Wonder, Elton John, Paul McCartney are LEGENDS with legendary songs! These legendary artists sing their songs, not covers after covers, why doesn't Gaga do the same too? Of course, she doesn't have suitable songs. As I said in the OP, it would not be appropriate to sing Poker Face or Telephone, and the more time passes the more I see her desire to shift to a more mature and adult genre. Instead she released Stupid Love, which I love, but which clashes with her desire to be more mature. It's a "I want but I can't" situation, I don't know if I explained myself.

After seeing her performances yesterday and the show as a whole, I love that she sang covers. You have to do something special for events like these and it makes them extra memorable, for when we'll look back on them.

We have already heard her sing her own songs and she (fortunately!) will continue to do so, so it's like hearing her sing more

She does. She sang Speechless and Million Reasons to the Royal Family, put on a whole show for the Clintons and The White House; MR, You and I and TEOG for that US ex-presidents event, there were no covers or duets on her SuperBowl set

Yes, I remember them  And it's interesting to notice that back then, she used to sings her own songs a lot more often, even in big events. 

In 2009 she sang Speechless in front of the Queen. If that performance was set nowadays, she would sing a cover.

Yeah I think it was a combination of finding the right songs for the occasion to perform plus not wanting to make it look like she was trying to promote her own music through the event she put together. Probably wise. I don't think she dislikes her discography at all! She's always written music she was passionate about.

She could've sang Come To Mama if she really wanted to... but that's literally the only song in her discography that would've matched the occasion. 

And considering how little known it would've been to the audience, I understand why she opted for two classics.

She’s just too humble sometimes and selfless. She might feel like something classic might be a better choice than her own catalog. She just doesn’t think that high of herself and thinks this event is above her.

... and there was Jessie Reyez who decided to promote her single COFFIN 
Gaga was main artist and this last part of event was more official so she made what she considered as appropriate. I don't think it has anything in common with hating her own discography.
