Gaga Faces Backlash in Hong Kong and Taiwan for Calling Tedros A Superstar

This is the news article. Apple Daily is one of the few pro-democracy mainstream media left in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Others are manipulated by China. Since Tedros has done many sketchy things to protect China’s reputation, the democratic part of Hong Kong and Taiwan have negative feelings about WHO and Tedros. The comments on social media here are extremely negative. Many people called Gaga a White privileged superstar who has lost touch with the real world. Some said she only said so to be rebellious because she is anti-Trump. Many are boycotting Chromatica. 
 

I personally find her comment insensitive. Gaga stands for the democratic, anti China and pro-human rights force in Taiwan and HK. I definitely find her calling Tedros a superstar offensive since he has been putting medical workers at risk and kissing China’s ass by not acknowledging Taiwan as an independent country. 

I will still stan but I definitely feel bad. It feels like ARTPOP era for us HK and TW monsters again. My friends have been tagging me on these news report asking me if I still stan. She is being attacked by people who should have similar beliefs with her.

On the bright side, some local monsters are defending her with another article published few months ago that praises Gaga. The article is about the Chinese fan club releasing a statement about burning their stan card. It is also published by Apple Daily praising her support for Hong Kong’s protestors, Taiwan’s independence etc.

At least we can proudly tell people that our idol isn’t a money hungry person wanting to kiss China’s ass. It’s just that she is a little under educated in this situation. Hope we can help her contain this crisis.

Hong Kong influencers are posting that Cynthia is a WHO ambassador. The way Gaga complimented Tedros probably involved money. They are digging deep. I hope Gaga’s hard work the past few years won’t go to trash in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

But Taiwan has a president, has its own army, has democracy, has their own currency, law, language etc. They are literally a country if you try to read history.

She didn’t have to call him out. Just leave this guy out of the narrative and just simply talk about the cause of the event. She didn’t have to complement him.

When she came to Hong Kong and Taiwan in BTW era, she acknowledged HK and Taiwan are part of China, and there was news about it, some Taiwan hosts were piss about it. But Gaga's political takes on this matter never change, so if they don't like it, then be it.

Front line medical workers and the pro-human right groups in Hong Kong have been trying to call out WHO since early 2020 when the virus was still manageable. It’s definitely their pro-China agenda that made this virus a pandemic. Making the slightest complement about Tedros is going to piss a lot of people off.
