They only mentioned the number of pure which was 170k but they didn’t specify in the article. Maybe we got the numbers later Thanks to some members tea?

I wanna say Joanne did 100k digital, 70k physical but I can't say for sure.

ASIB physicals did sell out midweek so its sales were a bit hindered.

Are we still discussing physical CDs? :air: We've already addressed the issue. Gaga is NOT that big of a CDs seller, no matter how much you want to paint her. I'm gonna paste my old post here:

"DEBUNKING RUMORS - "Physical sales are Gaga's biggest strength"

No, they're not. People, we are in 2020. Music consumption has changed dramatically. The concept of album sales is dead nowadays. Why do you think so many artists do tour bundles nowadays (including Gaga with Chromatica)? Because physical sales are nonexistent these days, and bundles can only mask that in week one. Most of the CDs are nowadays are being bought through the internet anyway. When was the last time you went to a store and bought a CD (that was not Gaga)? Exactly.

Now I'm coming with some receipts as well. A Star is Born debuted with 231,000 SPS units, and 162,000 album sales. Breaking down the sales, we have:

Digital downloads - 118,000 (73% from the overall album sales)
CDs - 42,000 (26% from the overall album sales, 18% from the total SPS)
Vinyl LPs - 2,000

After the Oscars week, A Star Is Born returned to #1 with 129,000 SPS units, and 77,000 album sales. Breaking down the sales again, we have:

Digital downloads - 50,000 (65% from the overall album sales)
CDs and Vinyl LPs - 27,000 (35% from the overall album sales, 21% from the total SPS)

As you can see, Gaga's strongest strength is actually in the digital downloads, and a lack of physical copies of Chromatica won't hurt her sales as much as people want to make it look here. The fact that Joanne debuted with better pure album sales than ASIB, a soundtrack, soccer moms, should tell a lot about how much album sales are declining. Case closed."

Looking back 201k first week for Joanne was WAY more than expected first week. With the way PI flopped, most people were predicting around 125k, some even <100k. 150k was on the high end. There was one person (Mariano) on atrl who predicted 200k and everyone laughed at him but he got the last laugh.

Hopefully history repeats itself with Chromatica.

I never understood how some of y'all think that 20% of debut SPS being from physical copies alone is not significant. Gaga sold more physical CDs first week than some #1 Billboard albums have sold pure sales in their entire run. Like... why would you wanna miss out on 44k sales :rip:

It's 2020. People don't go buy physical albums anymore except for fans. You're lucky we still have digital as an official pure sales platform i thought it was cancelled already :air:

I don't see a huge problem with physicals because the majority of it it's fans buying the CD and Vinyl. Not random people seeing the CD at Target and saying "a new lady gaga album, let me buy it so i can listen to it!" lol, that would never haopen nowadays, people would want to stream the album first at the very least.

That said, the fans are still gonna buy physical copies on the internet, get them sent at home and so i think we'll have pretty much the same numbers  cds and vinyls in Italy are still being shipped and produced without many problems (maybe just some days of waiting instead of getting them the day after) , i ordered some myself!

pls get into this ***uettery
