What your more so describing is the iTunes The ARTPOP version, particularly the autotuney vocals, did not go in as hard and it felt like the song had been put into a box, a box that would compliment the rest of the album tracks. So it went from single to album track in a matter of weeks. Loosing it's soul and yes going in the direction of watered down edm music like ARTPOP was described. Listening to the vocal stems on ARTPOP songs is intense lmao. bruh the Venus vocals I swear have 10 layers Donatella has some really amazing vocal layers that are hidden under... well.. Definitely sounds like it could do well on the radio too I don't think it'd do anything on radio but it would still be a "safer" choice than Aura as a single. Aura is very harsh (except the chorus) and frantic while X Dreams is more mellow and haunting, which I think can be enjoyed by the GP if given the chance. I tend to sometimes change on my opinion on ARTPOP as an ex britney Stan I'm a sucker for gay music that even I know isn't that.. Tasteful? Sexxx Dreams, donatella, DWUW (especially), Aura, GUY were my standouts. They were bops but that's it they were bops. And half of the problem was the way it was being described and promoted as all these things. But what we got was some gay edm bops that were great for in the gym. I suppose that it's watered down because a radio friendly slant was repeatedly put on the album behind the scenes. The disconnect is present on the record. It's not basic yet it is at the same time.. The music is only 75% of the problem. I will actually say I enjoyed some of the songs just as much as some on the BTW album too. In terms of the tune. Lyrics could also be a bit basic..
