This is literally the MOST unnecessary thread ever lmao.

They are a stylistic choice. Does there have to be a deep meaning to everything or what?

Like, there literally is no reasonable answer to this question other than that

It happens when she says "look at me". It's reminds me of picture in picture or reaction video type things? Some kind of futuristic surveillance or way of broadcasting yourself to others? Maybe they just thought it looked good?

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Its an element I recognized from Japanese TV shows

In these shows it usually displays the reaction of the audience/guests to things happening in the show

That's the point of the "look at me" line of the song, it made you look at it instead of the bigger picture. :huntyga:

+ In life, we tend to look into the big ones first before the small ones which is a problem because in order to solve something so big, we have to learn how to solve the smaller ones first. I know you get what I mean. But the connection of what I've said to the video is the concept which is unity.

In reference to “look at me” it’s a closeup of her is what I get from it... I thought this is pretty obvious no?

I think it's just to fit with the aesthetic they were going for with the video (Like the spinning tribe symbols that pop up, the Stupid Love logo in the bottom right corner and that one "All I ever wanted was love" subtitle that appears) and how it ties in with the "look at me" line too. Makes the video more engaging and interesting having things like that pop up which make you take a second look

That’s what I thought too. Sort of future telling, FaceTime, 1984 big brother, space theme.
I actually kind of like them but I don’t think they were used in the right way to be understandable. It feels like the video was edited back from a longer version and the short version cut out the set up to some of the storyline.

Battle 4 Ur Life

they’re like my favorite parts of the video. It’s sort of like retro tv close up frames. pop up “baloons” that are also present in comics.

“Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”

I think it was a cool, stylistic choice. I totally get what they were going for with that. You could literally ask the same thing about any music video. Why is this specific detail there? Why did they do that? What is that over there? It’s style.
