Dr. Fauci has been the author or coauthor of more than 1,000 scientific publications, including several textbooks. His memberships, accomplishments and list of distinguished awards are too long to list. But yes, most citizens themselves do believe we’re still number one. We haven’t been number one in anything substantial for years—well actually we are now and it’s confirmed cases and deaths related to COVID-19. Apparently it was used for writings in December, and it was given to Trump in January, though they are unsure he even read the briefing. China obviously did the best it could to hide COVID-19 and didn't report it until December although they knew about it prior. Regarding the testing unfortunately they aren't keeping up with test kits. Even if they suspect someone died of the virus prior to getting tested, they won't "waste" the test to confirm it since it can be used to save someone living. This is also why the number of deaths associated with the virus will be skewed. It is kind of hard to compare the U.S. to other countries simply because of its size though. All of the ports and airports make it hard to halt the spread, as well as the regular traveling between states that Americans do. I'm sure there's considerable traveling within countries that have Schengen privileges, but I could see even more happening in America, especially in travel hotspots such as NYC and beaches. Feels like you’re talking about me so I’ll quote you directly and make it easier for you to engage in a discussion without saying “ew” I live in NYC and all city and state authorities, I.e. people having nothing to do with Trump, assured everyone that everything would be okay and significantly downplayed the severity of the virus (this was after the China ban), encouraged people to continue using public transportation, didn’t enforce work at home until mid March, told people masks wouldn’t do anything etc. Therefore at the end of the day, there has to be more to finding a solution and honing in on the problem other than “trumps fault.” City and state governments should have been more on top of this. For the record, if I didn’t quote anybody it usually means I don’t feel like having a discussion. I just posted my thoughts and moved on. EW. All I will say is leadership during times like this usually start from the top. Some local and state governments stepped up before the federal government did.
