She performed the song in 2012, and hasn’t released a song that has topped it lyrically since then. And that’s fact.

Its probably in my top 3 songs of hers.

Smother Em Eh

Yes it’s such a heartfelt song and the lyrics are literally like one of her absolute best.

I get chills every time I listen to it  does anyone have a good fanmade studio version? I have a couple I listen to but I'd love to discover another one

Yeah, it's so good that she never released it. Come on now.

I think it’s more that the song was *so* dark and heavy. Like, it’s about Gaga killing herself. It’s like if you took paparazzi and ripped it of any tongue and cheek and humor and kicked it in the face. That’s basically Princess Die lol She said at one point that it would be on ARTPOP so I imagine that it was less that the song wasn’t good enough and more that it was just such a thud that it didn’t fit the track list. Dope at least tells a story in relation to the rest of the album so it makes sense why that one is there and the way she wrote it it is much easier for an audience to connect to while feeling highly personal. Basically it’s a great pop ballad, if pushing the limits of it a bit in its intensity. Princess Die is just *bleak* so it wouldn’t really work and I could see Interscope saying the same thing. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad song, just that it doesn’t belong on the album it was written for.

Of course she considered releasing it at some point... She doesn't write songs with the intent of keeping them unreleased. But if it was as good as the OP makes it out to be, she would have fought for it. It had its moment at BTWBall, so it's ok. I'd rather think about all the ARTPOP demos we literally have never heard or don't even know exist.

I agree it's so good. That one fanmade version shows how good it could've been with proper production etc, aside from just her piano version.  Lyrically, melodically, 10/10.

Have you listened to Gaga's discography :awkney:
Princess Die is a good song, but I mean, come on...

Well, opinions are opinions, but that's a bit a weird one

I agree. I'm fairly positive that if she was released it would have been my favorite song.
Still my favorite lyrics she ever wrote. To that day it's still the only song of hers that moves me to tears (alongside with Joanne, that I associated with my Grandma's passing)

Still salty that she recorded TWO versions, and that we got none
