You can take your vote shaming comments elsewhere. The Democratic Party doesn’t get entitled to my vote. They can either support policies I believe in or my vote doesn’t go to them. Simple as that. I’m not brain washed like the rest of the vote blue no matter who cult and you’ll just have to learn to deal with that. Then don't complain when Trump is reelected. Don't complain when new policies against trans, LGBT community are implemented, don't complain when health care is at its worst, don't complain when he insults x y z do not complain. I don't think it would have been great for his movement to just overhaul the system suddenly one day (had he won). The next republican president would have just wanted to overturn all that progress immediately. I think people really undermine the power of incrementalism when it comes to real sustainable political change. It makes it harder to walk back on the changes you've made. America may eventually get to where Bernie was hoping to take them but it will be done slowly over decades. You're absolutely right that Bernie will pave way to young progressive leaders that will maybe one day win small progressive battles here and there. And then it's up to the future generations to decide if they like how that looks and want to continue that path.
Fusel 1,111
hope y'all ready for 2020 cause Biden has NO chance lol in all seriousness, i am truly sorry for the americans who will suffer from this it's become clear once again that america needs a true alternative beyond republicans and democrats because they're all playing the same money hungry corrupted game i am grateful not be in a position where i have to decide whether i can live with voting for biden. then again, my own country will have elections next year which will not necessarily be that much better.. They'll blame everyone except their incompetent cult leader. I don't know what the reply was supposed to be, from an outsiders perspective of a EU-citizen I think no Democrat nominee really had what it takes to beat Trump in 2020. Biden lacks backing of highly influential left-leaning democrats and is the literal symbol of "same old sh*t every day" and is despised by middle America, Bernie lacks backing of anybody who is not a left-leaning democrat or a stray protest voter, Warren does neither have an influential platform nor public acknowledgement and hasn't built a solid base of supporters, Gabbard & Buttigieg are completely irrelevant and Bloomberg is universally disliked by everybody with a functioning brain. What the Dems needed was somebody who could market themselves as a political novelty at first and over the course of the campaign impress with good showings. Because they don’t take accountability for when they **** up and blame everything on anything and everybody else. Hi! I just saw the edited part of the reply where you shared the video. I was actually watching this on TV and it's interesting that the video cut out the rest of the conversation. I'm not a big fan of CNN either, but that video fails to share the part where the panel was sharing how they think it was Bernie's strategy not to automatically extend an olive branch to Biden because that wouldn't be helpful in trying to unite the party together. A reminder not to take everything at face value on the internet.

You're absolutely right that Bernie will pave way to young progressive leaders that will maybe one day win small progressive battles here and there. And then it's up to the future generations to decide if they like how that looks and want to continue that path. Honestly, generations never like what the world looks like and will seek to keep changing it tbh because there's always issues and society will never be perfect I think revolutions create too much raised expectations because they are based on what people see wrong right now and want to change. People are not very mindful of potential downsides of change when that's their focus Like I said, I don't think the degree Bernie wanted to go to is beneficial. But I'd be ok with him winning because either: #1 if he got a lot done we can at least test out the policies and see once and for all what happens #2 he only passes some of it and creates that incrementalism your talking about in a positive direction. I don't disagree with the direction Bernie wants to go to I just don't agree with how far he wants to go. Since he likely couldn't go all the way anyway I think his influence could be positive But I also do think society will never be satisfied with Government policies. The grass is always greener on the other side and ppl rarely consider the downsides enough when they want change. If they get the change they wanted and it doesn't work as well as they hoped, they find something else to blame it on. Whether it's the way it was executed, or some other factor etc

I don't think on its own it's enough and I agree with @HorusRa2 that moving a bit left to say Pete's level might help But I also think anti-Trump would work better now than in 2016 The ppl that already hated Trump or were neutral at best with him hate him even more now And some of his supporters have felt betrayed. I'm especially not surprised by low approval ratings given states and people in industries that supported Trump the most were the biggest victims of his crazy trade wars Farmers and resource workers for example have faced a lot of hard times under his presidency and manufacturing states (predominantly red States) have also performed below national average economically since his trade wars) I think it's fair to say there's more anti Trump now than in 2016 But yeah not enough on its own to guarantee winning tho. Biden needs to be more exiting and offer enough change to exited the left to at least turnout to vote for him even if he wasn't their top pick Thanks @Economy i think some people are too opposed to my point of view and how I’m voting that they are ignoring the valid points that I have to make. I agree that the anti trump argument may work better this time but the pro trump energy is much more organized and focused than ever so I think it’s a mistake to bank on anti trump to win. You have to give people something to vote for rather than just being against other things. It’s the same reason Pete, Amy and many others dropped out and Bernie and Biden stayed in.
