IMO Love, Simon is the blandest popular teen movie from the last years, full of internalised-homophobia scenes and a pretty sad depiction of friendship. For you enjoyment or knowledge in queer films (with gay romance), you might be interested in Xavier Dolan' cinematography (I Killed My Mother, Heartbeats, Tom at the Farm), Jonas, Week-end, Beats Per Minute, And Then We Danced, God's Own Country, Mysterious Skin, My Own Private Idaho, Bad Education, Happy Together, But I'm A Cheerleader... @GaGaAst All these are great movies, others listed by others as well! I agree with OP that the Brazilian movie is beautiful. Love, Simon can choke...

I saw it last weekend. The story is a bit predictable and I love the scenes shot in Chicago, meaning like the outside.

Head Empty 24,869
Love Simon really messed me up when it came out . I was like 25 when I watched it and had just figured out that I was bi/gay, but I never really acted on it. But after I saw the movie, I got extremely confused and emotional for a good two or three weeks. People around me started asking if I was alright It was pretty much the first time I could relate to actually falling in love with another guy - and not just stopping at shallow attraction. Which was something completely alien to me, but the movie made it feel natural. Yeah, it was a cheesy hollywood production, but the story at its core somehow really hit the spot with me Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ᵃˢˢ 🕺
