CDC Now Recommends Masks Wearing In Public Places

At first, they thought that only the Symptomatic ones (those that are coughing and sneezing) can wildly spread the virus. However, recent studies and observations conclude that the rapid Human to Human transmission may probably be through those Asymptomatic cases.

Ask CDC :billie:

I started my thread pointing out how masks can be useful for preventing the disease and you guy came at me with an attitude. Diverting the point to the shortage which is irrelevant and that's is not even our fault. Now go ask CDC what's about the shortage because they're the one who will have the answer for that sweetie :reductive:

lol my comment had no attitude, but go off I guess. It’s also unfair to act like health care workers should go without just because it’s not our fault there’s a shortage—they need to protect themselves and are far more likely to catch it than any of us are. They should absolutely be prioritized

And don’t call me sweetie :neyde:

I've already been doing that and bought gloves the other day...people can look at me like ok crazy but at least I'll be safer and less likely to contract something...

Idk where are u from but it was the same here in Luxembourg a few weeks ago, weird looks, laughs...

Now wearing masks or gloves when going to the supermarket is super normal. Wouldn't be surprised if in a few weeks it becomes the norm.

They discovered it's symptom-free as late as January 31 and Dr. Fauci is the one who claimed that the study is flawed. They're now manipulated it to look like it's recently discovered so that people won't go off on their misjudgment and bad execution in the past few months. They also led the public to underrate the mask as they're not prepared enough and they used public empathy for health workers to aid their problem. It's an airborne respiratory disease, sure the masks would help a lot but it's amazing how the media and politic schemes drive us into believing the opposite.

A mess :toofunny:.

And you are right, it's a respiratory disease hence mask is a given as part of PPE :toofunny:

I can't believe some people thought that it doesn't work. I saw some videos in FB where people are shouting at those who wears mask :toofunny:

The CDC is recommending to wear CLOTH masks, not masks that are better suited for healthcare professionals who necessarily have to get in the faces of sick people. Those were the masks I was talking about. It's selfish, ignorant, and unnecessary for the public to throttle the supply of masks that are actually certified for medical use.  Don't @ me the next time you don't know what you're talking about, thanks.

I supported you on this all along. I've been wearing masks since late February (I am in the US) on the rare times I go out (which now is almost never, since I am staying home and having groceries delivered). Just today, I wore my Enigma cloth mask to pick up some bread curbside at the bakery (we needed bread, and our next grocery delivery isn't until next Wednesday). I fully support the use of masks to slow the transmission of the curb, especially for asymptomatic carriers.

But I'm also aware that in the US at least, we have a mask shortage, so it's important that instead of taking these essential supplies away from healthcare workers, we use cloth masks instead. It's heart-breaking what these people are going through (reusing masks, wearing garbage bags). We also need to educate people how to put on and remove masks and that the reusable ones need to be washed after each use.

I think some (though not all) of the pushback you got on this was from people worried about healthcare providers not having enough masks.

Thank you, this is exactly what I was talking about.

One of my friends who is a healthcare professional was without a mask for about a week because there were no masks to give. I'm not saying the public is wholly to blame, but they sure didn't help.

I was personally pissed because an essential person who should most certainly get a mask didn't get one because of the disgusting hoarding that made everyone suffer as a result. And I'm supposed to feel bad for saying that? Not a chance. :billie:

Yes, I figured this was the reason for a lot of pushback. We need to prioritize people who are risking their lives caring for sick people, and after that other essential workers, because without those people staying healthy and alive, all of us are f*cked.

I don't think in the US at least most people are hoarding masks for themselves (I say this because I haven't seen many Americans wearing masks). I think early on people were buying them up to resell at exorbitant markups like that gross guy in the NYT. That makes me furious, as do the companies I see in Facebook ads selling masks at jacked-up prices.

That said, some sort of face covering is helpful to wear right now if you have to go out in public. When I got that Enigma face mask in my M&G swag bag, I thought it was such an odd item, but now I'm so grateful for it. I also have another cloth mask that had little filters I can switch out that I procured last November for a trip to Hong Kong, since police were tear gassing civilians and I wanted to stay protected. I've been switching between these two the few times I've gone out.

Nobody out there were panic hoarding anything because if people find out anyone wearing a masks they would discriminate them to death and brutally insult them. The shortage of mask is not because people are hoarding it but because the government didn't prepare enough for it even when they have months to prepare. Reportedly 3M sold 10 millions masks for foreign dealer but nobody say a thing about it, instead they keep blaming on people.

Keep it simple, masks in hospital and labs are supposed to be supplied by the federal governments.  Masks in Walmarts and HomeDepots were meant for the normal people. Now because it's the government's fault in supply chain so people have to feel ashamed to buy masks? I don't get it as without the masks, the people are also exposing themselves to the virus and who feels pity for them?

Thank to people like you the Americans were led to believe that mask will do nothing and it's morally wrong for them to use masks now for this pandemic and went out there the whole month without a cover on their face. We got nearly 300,000 cases today for that. I've never suggested anyone to take masks away from health workers so try better next time when you bring the cloth arguments at me. This is what happens when people who can't see a bigger image but try to give their say on the problem.

"The general public needs to stop hoarding masks and gloves. They don't need them. There are extreme shortages for medical personnel. I work in a chemistry lab and before it was shut down, we were literally on our last pairs of gloves with no backup boxes. This pandemic would have been x100 less stressful if people didn't panic hoard, but now we're all paying the price." - All I can see in your narratives is discouraging people from using masks. regardless what type of masks it is.

Yes health care workers should go without protective gear because the federal government can’t get their shiit together :neyde: the reality is that the government sucks and isn’t doing that so people in healthcare need to get what they can where they can. They are not adequately protecting themselves as it is because they cannot find the supplies

I literally read an article yesterday about a doctor who had to buy his own masks on the dark web, meeting someone at a seemingly abandoned warehouse, and seeing the mass quantities that were stockpiled in there. So yes people are hoarding and exploiting this shortage

But that’s all perfectly okay as long as you don’t feel a little embarrassed buying some right? Get a cloth one and let the healthcare workers have everything else or they won’t be able to treat people

The flamebait in this thread is absurd. People shouldn’t be buying masks, they should be in there homes point blank period. :interestinga:
