You're on the right track Billy! The vibes in this song is quintessentially 80s, the lyrics are great. Though that could sound a lil dated and people would really think it was a track from the real 80s.

I don't wanna be like the one with the bad things to say. I hope you just see it as a constructive criticism just for the vocals.

When I listened to the song, I wished your pronunciation could be more precise in the way you sing it, i.e. crisp and clear so people don't have to struggle to understand what you're singing about. Make sure the transition from one key to the next is sharp and precise. If you can improve on this, I really do think you can make it big.

Thank you. Will take your critiques by heart.

Just out of curiosity, who are the people you want to listen to your songs? What is your target group? Or did you never think about that?

In case you haven't noticed, he's getting really good feedback from 90%+ of members. I mean the thread is 6 pages long which is incredible for original music. It's of course understandable if you don't like it but why go as far as implying that people wouldn't want to listen to his songs? We obviously are... Telling someone "your music is just not it" doesn't make much sense when you just scroll through and see some people do think it is "it". Not saying you're being mean i'm just curious.

I really was taken aback by this song! It's not what I usually expect from members (I remember @Harry used to make really good music but that was years ago). Good job to everyone working on this song, and I can tell you you may not have the best singing technique but what you possess is a really really nice timbre. It's a voice I'd love to listen to. If you would invest in some vocal lessons to improve your technique it would greatly enhance the music. I will also note that in mixing you should raise your voice volume maybe a little? It's getting too washed up by the instrumental. It may be be a stylistic choice to have low sounding vocals but they're too low.

Another side note - you may not want to name your debut "Magnum Opus". It means greatest work. And I'm sure you aren't just gonna stop making music after this so it doesn't make sense to name you first album your greatest work since you will always try to be better!

I asked the question you quoted really out of curiosity, who Billy thinks that his target group is.
That was not supposed to mean that I think people wouldn’t be listening, especially because he gets a good amount of clicks and feedback. Like I asked, all I wanted to know is, which people he especially likes to listen to his song, maybe even where he distributes his songs/ advertises them.

English is not my first language even though I’m quite fluent, I sometimes still think that things come off waaaay harsher than they’re supposed to be when I’m talking/ writing in English. :) I never wanted to hurt someone’s feelings or be the “negative” person in a thread

I will do some vocal work. I have vocal coach friends and will do it. Need to practice them pipes if I will be performing live. So I appreciate your feeback.

I called it Magnum Opus since its a culmination of work that I did since 2015. It contains song that I supposedly will release as singles and songs from scrapped album concepts (I let it sit in and pick the songs that aged well) also songs from materials I demoed which is alot lol. The term Magnum Opus also talks about the grand story behind the albums story/aesthetics. It is cinematic. Where good and evil fights to make what they think was their own magnum opuses. The question is? - Who is truly right from these two perspectives. Does evil mean necessarily evil? Does the good always have good intention? It sounds confusing but if you think about it, the question is rather existential. The sophomore album will dive in the story more. (thats all I can say for the sophomore) as it is being made as of the moment.

Im also inspired by David Bowies work ethic of putting out new bodies of work every year. Thats also the reason why I will always put new music out.

Also this song was done in just a week/days time. So I have no time to let it sit in. Will probably record it again. We made this a part of the EP. The main concept of the EP is to give people music for them to have an escape during this times. Its called "Distractions"

Ohh. I forgot to answer that. I tried to ask myself that a couple of times before. Who is my target audience? Is it teens, adults, whatnot. But then again, I realized that music should be universal. You shouldnt target an audience cause once you do that your art will suffer since you will always think, will this appeal to this certain type of audience. Will this appeal to this and that. Which will not be healthy for me. Thats why I dont ask that question as I dont want my art to be sacrificed just because I need to follow a certain kind of metric.

Call me weird in my approach but thats me as an artist. Art should evoke emotion and not evoke statistics.

Again, thats just me. Some artist doesnt work that way. Some do.
