It’s been the case since the initial outbreak.
homomo 23,883
China literally jumped on stopping this FULL FORCE the moment the virus went public back in early January. They didn’t gradually shut down things; they literally shut down the county from the very beginning in order to stop the virus from spreading. That is why they have such low numbers. I can’t at all of you saying China is lying just because of their population. They are the only county who acted fast enough in order to stop exponential progression. 0110100001100101011011000110110001101111

We already have promising signs but the testing and trial process is going to take a while Apparently their numbers don’t include asymptomatic patients. According to their recent move to update their numbers. However, people in developed Countries seem more mad that a country like China was able to maintain the spread with a lockdown and mass testing. Of course the US will have bigger numbers when half the country thinks it’s a hoax. and in general, numbers everywhere are said to be low. especially in Italy where people are saying that numbers could be 5x what is being reported because not all the dead are being tested/counted in tallies. They were strict about it and it seems to have been effective, but it wasn't the moment news of the virus went public. December 2019: China alerted the World Health Organisation to several cases of pneumonia with no clear causes in Wuhan. At this stage, the cause of this was still unknown. January 1, 2020: The city’s Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market is shut down as the majority of those infecteded worked at the market. Officials race to identify the virus as the amount of people infected by the virus rose to more than 40. January 7, 2020: World Health Organisation officials announced they had found a new virus belonging to the coronavirus family. ^ THIS would have been the moment to order a lockdown. January 11, 2020: The first Chinese coronavirus death is confirmed. ^ or this January 23, 2020: Wuhan goes into lockdown ^ not this January 24, 2020: Another 14 cities put on lockdown February 20, 2020: Lockdown extended to schools and manufacturing plants in Hubei province Didn't Italy and France respond in a similar fashion and timeframe? Get out of here with your "sinophobia", people have every right to assume China is downplaying its mortality rate.

They are hiding real numbers and if whole World would know them we could prevent this. Everybody thought this is just a flu and if it killed about 3000 people in China with population over 1 billion it will be only few deaths in other countries. BTW If they would shut down county no one would go out and spread it around the World. Vote for me: https://www.grammy.com/vote/taylor-swift

But I would say it won't be too far from the real one. No country is able to record all confirmed and death cases. This is a documentary of how the city Wuhan dealt with COVID 19. My parents are not from the city Wuhan but still have the opportunity to get tested when they don't show any symtoms. I am studying in the United States and I know what it takes for Chinese people to go back to China during this outbreak, it's a 14 day forced hotel quarantine, getting checked every other day and you may only get out of quarantine if all of them are negative and nobody on the flight is confirmed with COVID 19. There're no perfect way to handle COVID 19 since it's a very uncertain condition and every country has their merits and mistakes doing so. Let's not do the blame game, whoever to whoever. I personally think the title of articles like these in the source is basically just trying to shift the attention to China, seen too many of them these days and it's so unnecessary. But those measures that you mentioned were only after the virus got spread very widely right? And please. I’m myself Chinese. https://www.businessinsider.com/5-million-left-wuhan-before-coronavirus-quarantine-2020-1?amp 5 MILLION PEOPLE GOT OUT OF WUHAN. 5 MILLION. Can you imagine how this highly contagious virus could spread throughout China. I highly doubt that there are only 80k cases and I believe the actual number is far more than the reported one. My hometown had quite a lot of people came back to town from Wuhan during that period, the Chinese New Year Holiday. THEY STILL WENT OUT TO JOIN DIFFERENT GATHERINGS FOR AT LEAST 10 DAYS before showing symptoms. I believe there were many people doing the same thing as those guys in my hometown across different parts of China. Please go checkout the footage of the actual scenes that were happening in Wuhan. There are plenty on Youtube. Many of those were from Weibo but got censored or filtered or deleted by the government. Referencing a video of CCTV, showing the hardships of the nurses and doctors even makes me more furious. THEY ARE RISKING THEIR LIVES TO CLEAN UP THE ****ING MESS OF THE CORRUPTED AND INCOMPETENT GOVERNMENT. And I think you know that in early January, eight doctors got arrested because they were spreading rumours of the existence of a dangerous virus and how this turned out later on. Maybe this is how they shift the attention from them, the government. Banning all people in China from YouTube, yet they keep on opening channels and uploading videos on youtube. I would be surprised If propaganda is not one of purposes behind all of this. I hope they won’t trace my ****ing ID and I would not be harassed after typing this. It’s dangerous here to be against the government.

"I can't imagine the real numbers of France if we add the people who died at home or in old people's homes". Furthermore, have you ever lived in China? Or had anything to do with their government? If so, how could you ask why people would doubt them Because they tried to keep the virus under wraps, and it took whistleblowing to inform the world what was going on. That's deceitful which would lead you to believe there is deception in other ways.
