I just whatched "The Platform" on Netflix and I'm shook

 

Anyone else whatch this movie on the bizzare dystopian prison?

Yes I loved it and the ending message is very strong and good.

It's an organization that's doing some kind of social experiment and the prison has a huge number of levels (I don't wanna say how many exactly cuz it will spoil some parts)

 

They send a massive platter of food down that spends a few minutes at a time in each level where the prisoners in each level (each level has 2) can eat as much as they want during that time

 

The issue is with each level there is less and less food. The people in the top levels get a buffet, in the middle levels they get scraps, and in the bottom levels (basically anything below level 50) nothing

 

Ppl in the lower levels often kill their mate to survive the month and eat human flesh.

 

Every month ur assigned level changes at random. U can go up a lot or down

 

 

This is a trailer. They dubbed it tho cuz the movie is foreign I had to whatch it with the subtitles (I hate dubbing cuz the mouths don't go in sink)

I didn't 100% get the ending a d what the message was supposed to be

 

Is it supposed to be their way of saying that they understood the point the social experiment? What exactly was the child suppostu be?

I think it's up to what you believe it to be I think (that's what the director intent). I believe the overall message communism and how it can't break the human spirit. He explained its up to society what happens once they find the message "do we want to remain the most miserable species that have ever set foot on this planet "

The message of the movie did seem to be to criticize Capitalism or perhaps even more specifically the "me first" mentality and attitude

 

But by message I was refering to the message in the movie that they wanted to send to level 0. I just didn't get what the child's role was and the message they wanted to send up

 

Cuz when they were gonna send the desert intact, I interpreted it as their way of saying they were not gonna be broken by the system and that they still had control

 

But once they decided to send the child instead I didn't get what the message was nor do I understand why the child was placed there. Given they could keep food without the room getting hot or cold it obviously means it was designed to be unique

I'm going to watch it in the next few days!! Maybe tonight if my dad is willing. Everyone's talking about it.

This and Tiger King which I started today   I can tell I'm in for a ride with that one.

@Economy Watched this yesterday and oh boy i was shook. The message at the end . I think the concept was genius but those graphic scenes were too much. It was too hard to watch at times.

I've watched it last night. Good acting and interesting development but the plot starts losing its grip in the last 30 minutes, and I have some issues with movies ending with such an open finale. That said, it's a good movie with a strong message and is well crafted to be the first feature of the director

I agree. The most gory scenes at times I had to look away lol
