Nier Replicant being remade!

Square Enix, the current handler of the NieR IP, has announced an upgrade of NieR Replicant will be arriving to PS4, PC, and XB1. 

Toylogic is handling development, as opposed to Platinum Games, who created the award winning masterpiece that is NieR Automata. It's not known why Toylogic is currently handling the game, but educated guesses can be made, as Platinum Games may be scurrying around to finish Bayonetta 3 and may have began development on the wholly original game they wanted to create. 

It's also unknown as to whether or not Yoko Taro is involved. Yoko Taro, the head behind the Drakengard/Nier franchise has been involved in every game and most of the creative efforts outside games, including the novels and manga. 

Excluding Drakengard 2. Which is excluded from canon. Because it was that bad. 

Another unknown is whether or Gestalt is being remade. Replicant was released in Japan, Gestalt in the west. Replicant featured "Brother" NieR as a protagonist, a beautiful bishounen who had a past of prostitution before becoming a hardened warrior for his sister's sake. "Father" NieR, featured in Gestalt, was a gruff man who was always scrapping by what he could for his daughter. 

If NieR Replicant is being remade it may be the first time the west sees the story from Brother NieR's POV. 

Square Enix hasn't announced everything that is to be expected of the remake. Music is being remastered and rearranged alongside some new tracks. And characters are being added. 

It's also to maybe be expected that gameplay will be less clunky than the original.

Square Enix also announced a mobile game. Nier Reincarnation. It is unknown if Yoko Taro is involved. 

But if he is, you can bet the mobile game is canon!

I know. I stan this series. I even have the light novels. I need to look for the YoRHa boys novel actually. 

I think it's cool that they're remaking it because, that gameplay is very clunky. 

I wonder if they'll remake Drakengard 1 & 3 as well?

I hope this does come out this year. Nier is just so good.

I wonder if they're going to make more tie-ins to Automata? Or if this Replicant will be of a slightly altered canon to the original?
