A lesson for the stans in the Sunday Times: positive review for Lipa & Gaga

Stans should read this review as it manages to be appreciative of both D. Lipa and L. Gaga last output:

 

"Last Monday Dua Lipa announced that her second album was going to come out early. “I hope it brings you some happiness,” she said, with ideal timing. This month, in a review of Lady Gaga’s enormously enjoyable comeback single, Stupid Love, one critic wrote that the song filled “a void in our downcast landscape”, adding that the only other artist like Gaga right now is the British pop star Lipa. Her music, the review said, is “big, bright, heart-on-sleeve. There’s an appetite for this kind of exuberant sound.” Lipa gasps when she hears about the Gaga review and looks delighted, if shocked, even a little daunted, which is not her natural mode. The comparison between the two singers makes sense, though. Lipa’s eponymous debut album won her Grammys and buoyed millions with its sassy, indefatigable resilience. Fast-forward to the just-released second, Future Nostalgia, and she is aiming for even greater highs. Like Gaga’s at its best, it is music for endorphins, designed to never make you sad. “For me,” Lipa says, “there should always be some sort of a happy ending.”

No need to bring any comparisons between these two artists in a negative, shady way. In fact, any stan can do the same as it is way more enjoyable and easy to contemplate.

Great review! Believe it or not it is POSSIBLE to stan other artists beside Lady Gaga. I wish more people understood that.

It's amazing to see how a positive thread like this is basically empty, I guess they just need this negativity and drama.. sad.

Thanks for sharing, I enjoy both artists and want both to succeed, among others, music never stops with one artist.

But I agree. Dua’s album and SL both kind of eschew cynicism as a whole, and is instead earnest, bright, and colorful poptimism.

I’m really happy for her success. You can see the work she put in it. If she’ll keep that drive she’ll achieve greater.

I stan many people/things as you can see from my signature 

gaga is my number 1 over anything but I have lots of pop girls and other things I stan and I 100% there need to more diversity in stan culture

Dua's album is good and she herself is harmless. She should be commended for her efforts of putting out a nice epop record. Gaga haters are just hiding behind Dua Lipa right now to get under your skins and some of you guys are taking that bait.
