Taide 5,789
The fact that you refer to it as COD instead of COADF is... disgusting. Anyways, the album is literally about confessing your thoughts on a dancefloor. Songs like How High, Sorry and Forbidden Love deliver their message clear although the lyrics aren't superior like on ROL. And I've never in my life heard anyone praising that albums lyrics.... Smother Em Eh 6,812
Its actually, “COADF”. It’s praised more for its aesthetic and magical disco pop sound. It may not have the most interesting or creative lyrics, but it has more to offer then that. It’s replay value is pretty high too.  Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views! I just don't understand how you can't distinguish between lyrics that are written in a simple way and conceptual presentation This is Madonna. There's always a secret message. And Confessions is FULL of them. Just because they're not shouting at you to look at them doesn't mean they're not there. I mean, I get it. They're not the most memorable, spectacular lyrics but to call them "basic" and imply they're meaningless is a step too far. I didn't say the album wasn't conceptually a master piece. All it's songs and for that matter all it's music videos are stunning. I went to the tour and I loved every minute of it. But Sorry repeats the same 5 lyrics thought the entire song. I get that there is a bigger picture that's why I love the album. But people here praising it's lyrics? To me this albums shows the you don't have to reinvent the wheel lyrically to create a master piece. You just need excellent hooks, killer production and a cohesive idea from start to finsh. IMO Madonna did that masterfully with this album. "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." -Martin Luther King Jr.

Dua didn't do that and her lyrics are forgettable nonsense on FN. Confessions still easily wins that fight. The only reason anyone on this forum compared them is because they both chose a throwback disco-pop route. No one is randomly thinking of Confessions as an example of lyrical genius... I just don't get what the point of this thread is.

Cookie Tookie 10,546
COADF is better than all your faves and their albums. And that’s the tea.

This argument right here: "She was having fun and getting people to the dance floor she wasn't transcending" is crap. Confessions is a dark af album that ends on a very pessimistic note with regards to her career as a superstar. It's not about having fun. She deconstructs having fun on the dancefloor and digs deeper. The themes you love so much on ROL and MX are also there, you just didn't see them apparently. I find that shocking Anyway, whatevs. I just seriously disagree.
Jose P 23,341
Not y’all bringing FN into this. It’s absolutely incomparable. FN is discount COADF and that’s a fact. COAFD was much more innovative, sonically complex, legendary, and memorable. One of the most iconic pop eras in history. Let’s just not. Dua did a cute attempt tho
