LilyLark 10,072
It's an excellent album. However, I wonder if the score might drop a bit once some more reviews are factored in...because as much as I like it I'm kind of "okayyyy" that it has a better score than Norman F*cking Rockwell, Thank U, Next, and Magdalene. I'm honestly not trying to shade Dua, because I love her, but her vocals & lyrics (yes, I'm aware 7 rings sucks) don't come close to Ari. I can't think of a single song on FN that has the depth of Bloodline, Fake Smile, Ghostin, or In my Head. Norman is also superior to all the albums....even most of Gaga's work imo. And 1989 and Emotion are regarded as the best pop albums in the past five years...and people are ranking FN way above it? I'm sure someone will call me a hater (I'm honestly not trying to pit women against one another, or be disrespectful as I think it's a fantastic album)....but if the score doesn't change I feel like this is another example of how odd Metacritic is....for example, Adele doesn't have a single album in the 80s. *Also, I love Hallucinate. It's not getting enough love.

Not dragging her or anything... was just underwhelmed by the album. I mean, the songs are OK, it's definitely not the worst pop album out there. Still, the singles rock, so... yea. her last album outsold not that i listened to it, i only listened to the singles again. They did Kiss and Make-up dirty. I think Gaga needs to be more like Dua, and Dua needs to be more like Gaga. Dua needs to become an album seller now, rather than a pop radio staple. Gaga literally came out and had singles success and album success right out the gate. Dua could, if she would not make her album tracks so damn.. album track? Stare at the Chartster in the mirror they talk to me too. #StreamFunTonight

I love her, but I'm like...how does this album have a higher score than 1989, Carly's Emotion, Norman F*cking Rockwell, Lizzo, Thank u, Next, etc.? It's great...don't get me wrong...but the lyrics (for the most part) aren't particularly innovative or complex and her vocals are solid (but nowhere near Ariana or Lizzo)? Even if you view it from a pure pop perspective, ranking it above Emotion, TUN, and 1989 is...an interesting choice imo. And I don't even find it under whelming...just not on the level of the others I mentioned. I suppose Metacritic could go down, but it already has 15 or so reviews from what I've seen. It still did well as far as I know. But the first album had some hidden gems like New Love on it, while this one now...em I am not sure really, nothing besides singles pops out. It's quite...mild? mellow? I don't know really... I don't see any of the songs besides the singles stick for a long time. 7 minutes ago, LilyLark said: Same! It s still too early to compare it with others. Officially it's only been a day (she released it yesterday) so 15 reviews is not to many and you'd expect the fans who work for those outlets to push it up and review first. I am sure the score will go down once more people get to listen to the album and review it. Not that I'd want it to happen, because Dua deserves success! I do hope that for her next album she'll be braver and more experimental! She still did well! xoxo
Poker 3,684
Hi everyone. I come here today to repent from my sin I've finally seen the light. Future Nostalgia is a great record. A piece of pop art. AOTY so far. Musically the album is really good. I wish she could work a little on her charisma but that's another story. k, that's it. Bye. Kindness rules all. pawzUP 335
Sadly, each I listen to FN less and less. I mean each song is super good, I guess I’m getting bored of music these days

If you’re talking about the instrumental after the chorus, it’s actually a sample of “Your Woman” by White Town. As soon as it started I had flashbacks lol

socotra 3,292
it's a great album. not quite the home-run some are hyping it up as, there's a certain monotony to the album (some might call that cohesion) where each song sorta blurs into the next. yet it's undeniably well-put-together. it's got sturdy, hard-bodied bops with high replay value, and there aren't any identifiable weak points for me. sections that dip below the album's highs, sure, but not anything irredeemable. more "not as good" rather than "eh" or "bad." quality body of work. not revolutionary, but certainly better than what's currently dominating the pop landscape (i'd take DSN/Levitiating vis à vis señorita/lose you to love me/someone you loved any day of the week). A-effort dua lipa!
