Spoiler

First of all, It's been a long time since we heard (like since Madame X) some records where the artist is not begging to get f*cked over a trap beat. It's not a groundbreaking record per say, but it's amazing for this time (esp. right now). Billie did amazing last year but it was too sad and we were all craving for some fun. The album is very classy and I completely applaud on that. Chromatica was going to be amazing if it were released but Gaga's philosophies can be exhausting at times. Compared to her first album I was very impressed on the substance on the album, did some research on her and she seems very interested in her craft, so have to give her props on that. Album is funky where it's due, it's the right amount of versatility you can expect from a major pop record.

Not really interested in the whole Rihanna, Adele situation too. Respecting those ladies, but maybe not for me.

At the moment my favorites are Future Nostalgia, Break My Heart, Levitating.

Positives: great cohesion between tracks, strong dedication to the theme, airy and fresh feel

Negatives: lyrics could be more mature (she could explore more things to talk about), songs are too cohesive, lack of surprises

(8.5/10)

I just think it’s overhyped.  Betty who released this album back in 2015.

My ranking:

---- (these are the songs I really love/like)

1. Physical (best pop song in a while released by any pop girl, still gives me )

2. Hallucinate (very dancey, love the buildup to the climax)

3. Cool (very chill and laidback song with rock vibes, sounds very refreshing to the usual stuff)

4. Don't Start Now (I appreciate that song so much how it brought Disco back into the charts again)

5. Levitating (I really like the instrumental and the chorus)

6. Love Again (the intro and outro are amazing, love the vibe and atmosphere even though it does not really have a climax)

7. Boys Will Be Boys (very cute song)

8. Future Nostalgia (this is okay but not as good as 1 to 7, but still a good album opener)

9. Break My Heart (underwhelming and reminds me of many other songs -> not very original)

10. Good in Bed (annoying lyrics)

11. Pretty Please (in general very boring, doesn't do anything for me)

I would give it a solid 80/100!

I've generally been a little negative about Dua Lipa over the years because I heard New Rules EVERYWHERE until it drove me crazy and I also just am a little hesitant about new music in general because I'm a 2000s kid

so I can't believe I actually kinda like this album? It's like I don't love the visuals of it and I've had a negative history with Dua and new music, but if Gaga released this as an album, I'd call it a f***ing smash.

Enzoooo

This is what ARTPOP could have been :vegas:

No shade to ARTPOP though, it’s my favorite Gaga album for many reasons, and I believe it’s an underrated album, but still Future Nostalgia is more successful in what the title is attempting to serve
