Why do people keep comparing Gaga with other popstars

Because it’s 2020 and we’re comparing what we’re seeing now lol. No one is saying Dua Lipa is a better artist than Gaga or that everything great Gaga has ever done suddenly is erased. Gaga is an ICON but there’s no doubt that Dua’s current work and even The Weekend’s current work are superior to what Gaga has been bringing at the moment.

She's only released one song this year. Even making a comparison to Dua and Weeknd feels premature.

It's just what people do. The human brain is small and stupid and needs to categorise everything.

Same thing happened when Gaga came out - comparisons all around.

Just either enjoy something for what it is, or don't    I don't know why one popstar can't succeed without people talking about how another has failed? It makes no sense. They're two different people.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Because she was THE POP STAR. Same thing used to happen with Madonna, etc.

But let's be honest, we all need a standard to compare everything. And truth is that we also compare "now Gaga" with the "old Gaga", because she used to deliver 100%, and she's not gonna do that ever again, we get the part influenced by health reasons, but still, I think she's kind of over it, and I can perfectly picture her retiring in 5 years after 2 more albums, the Chromatica Ball, another international tour, and a good-bye Vegas residency

I don’t think she’ll retire from music completely, but I don’t see her doing another pop album after this, and that’s why she’s doing things everyone’s been wanting like bringing back gagavision and the “ball” tours. It just seems like she’s trying to go out with a bang, and then will focus on movies, mental health activism, family at some point, etc.

reality’s tight if the music is right

Yep, that's what I mean, she's not going back to be THE star, you can clearly see that she got f*cked by all the media, attention, stalking, fake people taking advantage of her, probably abuse of certain substances, etc.

I'm not condemning it, she's human and most of us would probably deal the same way more or less under the same circumstances, I'm really fed up with people thinking that they must defend her of any minor critic as if she was a deity or a race for "who's the best fan", to be blind and be fake and pretend you like everything she does doesn't make you a better person or a "cool fan", it's just delusion, and it's actually worse since it alienates her and her team making them think that the mainstream world thinks as ourselves, or that the fandom is reacting good to something that it might be out of date or a failure, and it's ok if it's the case, since she can grow with our help as we grow up with her, that's how a healthy relationship works.

Can I please have “Excuse me, No!” Back just once?

Someone like Gaga will never be able to retire from performing.

Thats why she continually finds new ways to perform. She is an all-around entertainer and loves doing it.

It’s unfortunate that her body doesn’t allow her to do it like she once did, but she was born to do it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want her to retire, but as they say above, she's over the "biggest popstar of all time" hype and expectations, and it's actually a healthier movement for her if you really care about her. And no matter how much you love something, if your health is really not allowing you to complete a world tour, you won't be able, unless you want her to be more screwed by sedatives and going to dark places (she's been there, done that).
