This isn't a comparison... it's simply the numbers for where the majority of cases lie at the moment.

No one is saying the outbreak in the US is currently worse than it is in Italy. However, the US is still the epicenter now and it's in the best interests of most countries to block all travel from not just China and Italy/Spain but also the US.

Gotcha. I only realized this after commenting but I can’t delete it

A country where people fears going to the doctor becouse they cannot afford that from the economic point of view?

NO, the US isn't the most prepared country from the health-care point of view.

The most prepared countries are the Europeans (and Candada), aka the ones with a public-free-universal health care system, and not a private-payed one like in the US.

My Point was about how prepared a country is, As the situation is now yes more factors like the ones you mentioned are coming into play.

The US has a score of 83.5 the highest in the world in readiness for a pandemic followed by the UK with 77.9 and then the Netherlands with 75.6. Scientists ran simulations and it matched this but none accounted for the US failing miserably at the first steps necessary in stopping the spread.

Now that it has spread tough it becomes a matter of the healthcare systems in place and how fast the virus is spreading. What you say is right about the economic factors when it comes to US Healthcare it will definitely impact the numbers. Here in Ireland the Government has gotten rid of the separation between public and private healthcare when it comes to the virus as well as all treatment for it being free. I wish the US would adopt something similar but I don't see that happening sadly.

Please everyone take care and be careful

In Italy the situation is desperate. All of medical assistance which is not an emergency cannot be treated (I am a nurse), they are post-posing surgeries even big and urgent once (except for oncological, and really critical life-saving type of interventions). Schools are closed, 80% of type of shops are closed, banks and financial facilities open just to the public once a week through a reservation system. I need to go to the dentist and I can't.
My mum had a big surgery last monday and she is coming out tomorrow, but since she may have catched the virus in the hospital itself (hospitals are full of cases) I will need to create a sanitary quarantine in which I separate my mom and dad, and I need to give treatments to both of them (my dad has dementia and clinical situations, and mum had a tutor removed), so I will need to sanitise myself and the house every time somebody need to use the bathroom and every time I need to give assistance to mom and dad, by changing my clothes and having a shower plus sanitise myself. Hope I'll make it right.

Police stops you in the streets, you can go out just for get food (also other restrictions applied on this), medical reasons, it is mandatory to wear face mask protection (which you cannot find anywhere, people are sewing them themselves) and disposable gloves. All other stores and factories are closed except for the ones medical related (except dentists, which you need to have really huge problem to be taken care of), public transportation has been diminished of 50%, you can walk your dog just 200 mt from your home.
The sanitary emergency is set until July 31th, and just if things will get better and peaks will be reached all over the country.

It is really hard.

Is there a chance the virus will be much more controllable and less dangerous once the temperature rises? Or is there no correlation between these two things?

Yes, possibly.

But in places like Africa, it will spread.

Most people think Italy's deaths are high because of their old population, but Germany has some of the lowest death rates with an age distribution in the population very similar to Italy (they are the #2 and #3 'oldest' countries in the world, iirc). That's because Germany is doing a really good job at testing.

I don't know about that 500k estimation, but I'm also sure our numbers are deflated as of now: as of now, here in Italy we're only testing people with symptoms and, if positive, their family members/those who were in contact with them.

Anyway, if you're interested in the official data (released by our ISS) regarding Italy's death cases, this could help: https://www.epicentro.iss.it/coronavirus/bollettino/Report-COVID-2019_26_marzo_eng.pdf

This report gets released twice a week and tries to compile most of the Italian death cases. As of now, it's impossible to have a complete picture of them all (this report still uses a lot of statistical inference), but I hope we'll get a clear one at the end of fhe emergency... hoping for it to come soon
