NCgaga 4,345
Again, add up all the countries in Europe, which would be comparable size to USA, and Europe would far outnumber USA in cases. Saying USA is the new epicenter is a way for people to freak out and check the news. It’s not accurate.

Most media outlets have been calling Italy the epicenter for the last week or so, however Italy has consistently been lower in total cases than China. It doesn't have anything to do with total numbers of cases, it's the speed at which it's spreading, which the US is currently winning with in comparison to all other countries. Italy is the epicenter of reported deaths at the national level. Europe is the epicenter at the continental level. These are the facts as of right now. LGMonster95 13,704
I mean it's kinda expected because big and crowded cities like New York are at a much higher rate of getting infections. I hope everyone is taking this super seriously and stays home.

They're using the police to try to enforce quarantines. If a case is confirmed in a neighborhood, they have curfews in the whole neighborhood. The US and India are both testing people less than ideal but you know how I know India doesn't have as much of an outbreak? People with flu like symptoms aren't overcrowding hospitals and dying in the hundreds per day despite India being 5x more populous and much denser. Thank you for informing me better! The situation could've been managed much better and earlier India is 1 billion people and is even densely populated but is yet to have such high numbers. Could have to do with the seasonal/temperature differences. The hardest hit areas have been in colder climates thus far. Africa was avoiding the virus for the most part, but it is numbers are starting to rise as the seasons change there. India may escape the worst of it this season, but get hit hard come early winter. Also the entire nation is on a lockdown for three weeks and it’s very strict. There’s police everywhere and people are being monitored. We can only get out once a day, that too just to buy the essentials. Everything else is closed. It’s like a ghost town.

The reason it has not sky rocketed in the number because we've been under lock down for like ages. We follow and respect the government.

That most definitely helps, so does the weather. Come this Fall/Winter, weeks will turn into months. That’s when we will see how this virus really spreads. They knew about it but didn't say anything but because it's a dictatorship, they can use extreme force to limit the virus outbreak in their country. However, in the US, it's not that easy. You can't use extreme force on Americans because they value their freedom. I should look into becoming a conspiracy therapist ‘Freedom’ = no healthcare, no infrastructure, corporate run government with corporate policy. you guys surreee have freedom. really though, the deaths are probably way higher then that in the US. Most Americans will sadly just die at home 😞

Also, the USA Isn't spreading the same way. Over half of the cases in USA are being found in and around New York City. New York City and Europe are similar in their mass use of public transportation, and extremely dense populations. Outside of the NOrtheast, around NEw York, America's population is not comparable to Asia or Europe as in most people aren't living in densely populated areas. MOst people in America do not take public transportation and aren't typically gathered in large popu;ations. You can expect the number to increase significantly in and around New York due to weeks of trains, subways, and people living super close to each other, exposing each other. New Orleans carried on Mardi Gras, and a lot of people got exposed. Spring break, and the elderly population of Florida have caused a lot of cases there. Spread elsewhere, will be considerably difficult in much of the US compared to Europe, though cases will continue to rise as testing is more and more availible. Most states are controlling their own mini-epicenters with lock downs, and social distancing,- this will make a smaller peak in those areas. You do know that Europe isn’t a city, right? ‘Europe’ isn’t like New York, only city’s are. Most people live in small to moderate size towns
