Genuine Guy 09 13,941
So... Stupid Love was off to a great start before lowkey b̶o̶m̶b̶i̶n̶g̶ stabilising at a lower number on iTunes and streaming platforms. It took Just Dance a long winded 8 months to peak at #1 on the billboard charts. (April - Jan) It took Million Reasons (a̶ ̶m̶i̶l̶l̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶p̶e̶r̶f̶o̶r̶m̶a̶n̶c̶e̶s̶) around 4 months to peak at #4 (Oct - Feb) It took Shallow (an Oscars performance) around 5 months to peak #1 (Sept - Feb) In countries like Canada and UK (maybe Australia), the song has stabilised in the top 20 (talent won). However, the song has also been making increases in Austria, France, and Germany (im not expecting miracles.. maybe re-enter their top 40). On a personal note, I myself and others heard the leak and called it a demo and a decoy. When she brought visuals to the song and the song picked up radio play, I begun to love it. This took me from the leak to the MV release week. I think GP will take a month to start getting their lives. So... could Stupid Love reach a new peak in two months time?! PlastiscGuy 20,913
It depends... Will Gaga give it amazing promo after the album is released? Is any random singer at the subway going to make it viral in a few months? PG.
REALITY 76,333
It depends on if she has something big planned. The reason why MR became a big hit was because of the Super Bowl. Carpool Karaoke gave it its initial boost, but the SB was what put it over the edge. As for Shallow, it went to #1 after her and Bradley's iconic Oscars peformance. I feel like in order to become a bigger hit SL would need that level of exposure, but considering the circumstances of today's world, I don't see that happening. That said, maybe if it continues to steadily climb on the radio, it could become a sleeper hit. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
Magneto 13,430
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the other singles started low and slowly kept climbing. SL started out good, but then fell. These paths for me indicate that for the other songs people needed to get to know the song first, while the latter just indicates that people are already over it Free my mind
PlastiscGuy 20,913
I highly doubt, to be honest... Perhaps one of the other singles will take off later this year, but I doubt it's gonna be Stupid Luv's case And I rlly luv the song don't get me wrong, but I doubt the GP is gonna bring it back to life PG. We didn't like the song for a good 3 weeks of the leak, some of us only til music video. GP is super late. she got amazing first day and the interest was there, then it was mostly backed up by fans for the first week. Id say most people dindt after that, it was all the GP. so it begun to drop. but it could slowly climb as people get it stuck in their head. Its a song that needs forcing on people, the same way MR was forced on people but just through playlists and radio. Due to the current pandemic, no additional promo. I know GP fans around here that like the song a lot. Honestly, it’s just the timing. It could have the same momentum as Born This Way once this mess is over-that wasn’t a sleeper hit considering it was Number 1 for 6 weeks, but Stupid Love could bounce back once things calm down. RochestrMonstr 3,199
I don’t even know if “sleeper” is the right word. SL is already on its way to becoming a radio hit. None of those other songs made massive gains on radio in their first 3 weeks of release. SL has not stopped rising on radio. I think it could definitely see a “repeak” but I can’t imagine it will be out of the picture for long enough to be called “sleeper”. I think in this case they would just move onto the next single if that happened (Which wasn’t as much of an option in past cases, especially with MR).
