Spain and Italy left it too late to do anything... thats why you need to go on a lockdown when the cases are very low. How can you possibly stop the spread of a highly infectious and fast transmitting infection if you don't shut down the country? Think of it like a kitchen... if something is majorly wrong, or when Gordon Ramsay finds mouldy chicken, they shut the kitchen and the restaurant down.

Actually, the biggest age group who seem to get it the most is between 20-29. Its just much more deadly to those with weak immune systems, and the elderly. Kids can carry the infection and pass it on older people.

People can work from home, students can study from home, school students can do work online... there really isn't a need for people to still be going to work. Except for people in the NHS and there should be more funding and they should get an increase in pay.

The UK should have learned from Italy and not repeated the same mistakes. A lockdown is the most effective way of stopping everything.

A lockdown is not the most effective thing ever. Every decision any government makes is life or death. There is unforeseen consequences to every little decision that is made. Pros and cons for everything.

There is one huge and glaring thing about lockdown which is what happens when it stops? When everyone goes back to travelling around the world like nothing ever happened? You've taken most of the population away from the exposure and it is the ONLY solution to have the highest risk of a another outbreak. That is also what the science says. It may be the best at stopping this infection but leaves us the most at risk for another outbreak.

If everyone is in lockdown, the virus cannot spread. This gives time for a vaccine to be worked on, finalised and rolled out to the public. Also, if the virus died out because it cannot spread, then there wouldn't be any risk to going back to our normal lives once this is all over. If in 2 months time, the last person diagnosed with Covid 19 recovers (or sadly dies) then that means there would be no cases of covid 19 on the planet. Problem solved.  If you continue with normal lives, you are risking wiping 1/7 of the earths population off the planet... maybe more

You really don't get it huh?

First of all, a vaccine is estimated to be at least 18 months away. They take time to test, implement human trials, and then MASS produce which of course is the part that takes the longest in that process. You want the world to go on lock down for 18 months?

Second of all, we have no idea the rate of infections that are asymptomatic. You know what that is? It's where you carry the virus but never show any symptoms. This virus is shown to be asymptomatic in several cases and until we know more we do not know the true number of cases that are asymptomatic.

This means that even if we think we have stamped out the virus, asymptomatic cases could very well still be active leading to another outbreak. On top of this it is much more harder to produce tests that show who has had the virus in the past and didn't know. These types of tests are much more difficult to make, none exist currently, and basically mean we have no way to know the actual rate of asymptomatic cases which therefore means we cannot ever just assume the virus is gone.

Also you are really showing your ignorance by thinking this is such an easy solution to fix and that it will take 2 months for this to pass. We are in this for the long haul my friend. You said you are still in school, so maybe leave the pandemic response to the actually trained personal to handle.

Lmao I think YOU really don't  get it :ladyhaha:  They are already on human clinical trials and they reckon we could have one within the next 3-6 months. Not 18. Maybe you should read more

This virus is only asymptomatic for the first few days/weeks... they reckon that there is an incubation period of around 21 days on average. After that, you do develop symptoms. Its why it makes it so deadly because people are going about their daily lives without knowing they have it, which is why a full lockdown should be the correct path to go down. The people who have it and don't know about it can literally be sitting next to you at work.

Tests are becoming more readily for Covid 19... why do you think they are implementing drive through testing? Its becoming more easily to detect, which is a very good thing.

I think you are showing your ignorance by putting your faith and trust in a man who doesn't care about you or what happens to the majority of the people of the UK. Instead of taking him at his word, read more. Do your research, look at scientific papers, look at what other countries are doing compared to the UK.

You are seriously foolish, I've spent every day looking this stuff up. You do realise things can go wrong? They cannot guarantee yet that the vaccine actually works and that there will be no complications in its testing. Also did you not read where I said the longest part of that timing is for it to be mass produced? You think we can roll it out to every single doctors in the world instantly? It very well may take up to 18 months to make sure every country has enough of this vaccine.

Also no you are wrong. There is multiple cases in several countries showing there is fully asymptomatic cases where people didn't even know they had the virus. We just announced in parliament right now that we are pushing efforts into making a test for this. Once we have this, it will be a huge breakthrough.

You really wanna put this all on Boris huh? You don't realise that he has behind him a team of leading scientists in their fields working tirelessly to advise him on decisions. I know he doesn't know what the **** to do, but the scientists do. And they are trying their best yet you sit at home and think you know best?

It's the little managers mindset gone mad :rip:
