Are people liking it just as a way to congratulate her on pregnancy but not actually liking it? If ever there was a moment for her fan support to come back, it's now. Literally, where are her fans? It's not like the Witness era, where all the fans have already bought the album and it's now up to the public to buy the singles, she's just releasing stand-alone single after stand-alone single and no one cares. Granted, fans tend to support this kinda stuff less but not "can't even get onto the top 100" less. It's ironic that just as Katy has started to release some of the best music of her career, in my opinion, is when the fans and public deserted her. A genuine crying shame.

 

You hit the nail on the head. People checked out the video bc of the pregnancy reveal, which was enough to give it a small boost. It got tons of likes bc of the pregnancy, but clearly not because of the song cause barely anyone bothered to stream or buy it. And fans are not enough to make a song chart high. Although the fact that it didn’t even chart makes me think she doesn’t really have a large enough fanbase anymore. At least Gaga managed to have a high debut because she has a massive and extremely loyal fanbase, it’s like Katy doesn’t even have that anymore.

The GP still know Katy, bc they did make a buzz of her pregnancy. But they sadly don’t care about her music anymore. Maybe Witness and the fact that she’s been around for more than a decade but her music has remained creatively stagnant affected her. After a certain time, artists need to try even harder to remain relevant. Gaga ventured into jazz, folk, acoustic, television, and cinema, doing a damn good job at that and thus receiving acclaim. That has kept the GP’s interest on her. She’s respected. Katy seems to be stuck on the past, she needs to push it hard to achieve success but she isn’t doing so.

Katy Perry needs to evolve and take an artistic risk or leap for her to gain some new and serious fans. I feel like her fans from the TD and Prism era have grown up and are now seeking more authentic and real music. NWW is a good song and the music video is beautiful but the GP just don’t seem to care about this glossy pop. They want something new from her and nothing she is doing is taking that leap. I hate to say this, and I’m a huge fan of hers, but she always just seemed to lack authenticity. She literally seems controlled by her label so I can’t take the stuff she does seriously. Her old pop music was interesting and fun but now... it’s just boring and overdone

This is why I don’t blame everything on her. Capitol literally has ZERO logic and common sense.

They keep her from evolving since Prism era and the reason is money. But that’s exactly the reason NOW why Katy ain’t able to give them a single cent now. They just need to let her be or they will lose their biggest female pop star (on their roster)

But at the same time, how do we know this is not what she wants. It can literally be she doesn’t care or doesn’t want to try anymore and she’s just doing it because of money or she has a contract to fulfill. I mean, a lot of artists still take some artistic risks and try new things. I have a hard time believing that it’s her labels fault 100%. If she cares then she should be smart and fight for more creative control. I’m sure Interscope didn’t want Gaga to release Joanne or go to ASIB but you can tell Gaga truly wanted to do it and it’s helping her now
