Small examples:

Italy suffering its lowest streams on Spotify (decreasing more and more from weekend to weekend)

ASIB (A monster in France) suffered its lowest physical sales week, as did every other album there

Shallow almost dipped under 1 million streams on Spotify for the first time since release on Sunday

:vegas:

Fair enough - I would have thought it would increase in Italy with so many millions stuck at home with little do and morale at a low. ASIB has been out for well over a year though - I don't know if that's a fair example to measure.

I can see them waiting to find out how the Weeknd performs - it's too late to pull that album; seeing how new music fairs in the current situation is probably a better way to gage the impact it's having on sales and streams.

uhm how are you supposed to enjoy it on clubs and parties and go out if the world will be in a full lockdown next month? lmao

It could still be on lockdown or it may lighten up. Most of China has already emerged from lockdown

Interscope should do the same. It's not up to Gaga to decide it. If her label thinks it's the best option for the commercial success of the album, they will do it.

I agree with you, but IT is  commercial music, point  is  to make money. Is a business, they spent so much money in the album and promo. They have to make their money back, is a business decision.

yes, but in this sense, considering the half the world (to say the least) is housebound, would it be cute to give people something to listen to? Considering that fans would have a lot more time to do so?  (I even think that commercially that could be even better, physical copies aren't that important anymore, are they?)

I still think that previewing the album on streaming services would be a cute move, but this project seems too articulated to do so (duos, singles, videos already planned and so on)

I'm a real Fire CRRRACKERRR

I don't think the delay of Sam's album is due to the virus.

I agree with you

I think the no competition climate could really help in terms of strength of the gap between chromatica vs #2 album. its just if it affects sales overall it wont be doing her usual 200k debuts stateside. :vegas:

Delaying music means they’re 100% concerned about maximizing sales. It’s understandable for the label/musician, but we need good music right now. With everyone holed up at home we’ll have more time for movies, music, video games and books. Why wouldn’t you want to take advantage of that?

its like how Mariah carey released glitter on 9/11 and it flopped hard.

wow it's not the same thing AT ALL :rip:

people were scared to leave their homes and the world was on the brink of war. not to minimize what's happening now but you can't compare the magnitude of the 9/11 attacks to the cornavirus situation :rip:  also Mariah's career was in an absolutely terrible place, so it was bound to do horribly anyways.

that was 19 years ago, and music consumption has changed drastically with streaming. analysts are predicting video streaming and on demand will increase at least by 60% in the coming days, so it's not crazy to thing music streaming will have a similar increase

yes, physical copies are going to be hard near impossible to come by, but ti doesn't mean it's going to flop horribly

who will love me when the night is over

I hope she doesn't, perfect time to release music for people to escape what's going on.

and I - oop.

this could go 1 of two ways:

Gaga follows suite, realising now isn't the time to release an album

Gaga sticks to release date, does less numbers, but takes advantage of 0 competition

:vegas:

The world is concerned about nothing else but CORONA.  It is the only thing social media is talking about, the only thing the news is talking about, and unfortunately a Lady Gaga album will not have the power to compete with this and redirect peoples attention to HER.
