SL theory of mine

Featured Posts

I kept thinking about that futuristic and hyper realistic photoshoot for Paper magazine and how some members felt, in contrast, that SL visuals where a bit “cosplay” or even “cheap”.

Theory : What If SL, within the visual context and story of Chromatica is indeed meant to be a sort of “fictional story” or to make it more specific: a music video, show or video game that Gaga is part of. Like for example when we see movies been shot within a movie and those scenes are made to look deliberately more cheesy or “bad” compared to the “actual” movie. Think Scream movies vs Stab.

In no way am i discrediting SL or the video, I still think it’s very fun. I’m just saying Gaga may have a very different approach to the rest of the album. Hence, maybe, why we have no album cover shown yet.

what do you think?

Hope there's Ariana and all other people she dueted with are featured on the cover like a superhero movie poster. :awesome:

I hope it's not. :triggered: I don't want to see any other artists on the cover of GAGA album. :triggered:

hmm you  didnt explained yourself very well.

But seeing the work of the artist, it seems clear what is the problem here. That photoshoot isnt that different from his usual work, at all. Tbh he's a really good fit to Gaga kind of work, this one seems be bit more pop than his usual work but honestly not enough. It's interesting but i dont think it's near some other great phtoshoots

that aside, Gaga works well with artists that have a defined aesthetic and concept to they're work. SL is just an empty video, a demo of an idea, imo. And the direction is horrible. I think only so much can be her idea, and the haus. The other part has to make it work for the screen

I agree with the SL video assessment. It's not bad, but Gaga's best work happens to be when she works with people with strong aesthetics and visions that she can work off of. This guy, while maybe a good director, is not one that I'd say has a *super* strong or distinctive style like Steven Klein, Nick Knight, Jonas Åkerlund, Francis Lawrence, I&V, etc. With Gaga, I think that interview Jonas did for Telephone's anniversary says it as best as you could, "I'm just there to filter the ideas and make them happen." Gaga is a visual person with lots of ideas. What she needs in a director is someone with an aesthetic sense strong enough to tie a lot of different ideas together.
