It *may* climb back into the 20-25 range (maybe during the album week) but it's clear this doesn't have legs. At this point, I'll be happy if it climbs into the top 10 on pop radio (something she hasn't done since the ARTPOP days). A cute single that was her 16th top 10 hit and helped her gain traction again on radio.

Word. Stupid Love accomplished EVERYTHING she needed it to do; after Joanne, nobody could have ever predicted Lady Gaga to be able to release a pop-dance solo lead single in 2020 that would debut at #5 on the Hot 100 without ANY in-person promo to push it, become a radio smash in only its 2nd week, and look poised to become her best radio hit in 7 years. The song is a polished return to her roots, allowing her to transition back into mainstream pop from her stripped-back era of C2C > ASIB, and a Top 5 debut shows the GP has a desire for more of it, radio is on-board, media is receptive, and a 2nd single that has just as polished of a rollout but with SOME kind of 2nd-week boost (digital performance, promo single, whatever) will do as well if not better.

It's crazy that you guys can say you're fans of Gaga when her last solo effort's lead peaked at #15 and its only viable second single was outside of the Top 10 until the Superbowl. If SL's two weeks were the peaks of two singles, they'd already be more successful than Joanne pre-SB. SL *will* climb, if not this week (not sure why it wouldn't considering the lack of new music and the number of songs above it that are aging or flashes in the pan without radio prominence), than surely in the Top 20 on the date of the album drop. Considering Katy and Kesha, facts only, can't even chart... why are we acting like snobs?

You clearly don't know what you are talking about. A #5 peak is nice yes but when it spent only 1 week in the top 20 you know it's success was fanbase driven, it did not get to that place because the general public knows and loves the song, therefore it is not a real hit. Stop being delusional and start being realistic. The song is a flop and Gaga either has to release a promo single to reinvigorate interest in the era or get out there, hustle and promote the song a lot if she believes in it and wants to make it stick.

It's not a flop. Music may not be getting good numbers in the USA, but there are several other countries where music is performing well, such as the UK.  The song was also # 1 on the US Digital Singles and Hot Dance charts, outside of being hit in Croatia, Greece, Lithuania, Finland, Switzerland, etc.

If this is a flop for you, you are definitely a delulu.

This used to the norm in music, and people wouldn’t write songs off immediately; it takes time for songs to grow. The average listener isn’t running out to stream a song they hear once on the radio, sorry. The song could actually decently rebound if radio stays on board and Gaga gets the chance to promote it somehow.

Exactly; this wonderful "streaming era" that everyone is so crazy for Gaga to get perfect has had a horrible impact on music, the rollout of singles, and the concept of an era.

You either need to sacrifice the lead single and put your confidence behind the followup a la Bieber and Weeknd;

Or, sacrifice the 2nd song and use it merely to boost the lead a la Selena and Dua.

Don't Start Now has had a wonderful, dare I say NOSTALGIC, climb to the top, allowing her to actually form somewhat of a branded American presence and give her album some hype and permanency. Yet, Physical - which many felt as the stronger of her two pre-album singles - has gone nowhere and isn't likely to given how long it has been since release. Why isn't the discussion on what a FLOP Physical is? WHY COULDN'T DUA CAPITALIZE ON DSN'S SUCCESS?! DSN has now peaked just 3 places ahead of SL. I love both of them, but I'd bet anything LG's second single will have a higher peak than Physical.

well yes, it was Gaga's long awaited solo comeback. Obviously a lot of people streamed and bought it,  but as u can see with this drop, this song aint it    :heart:

You are definitely wrong to say that the music has declined because it is not quality, dear chartfan.

I think the public, specifically her fans should give at least some support in relation to this situation, Stupid Love is one of the songs that can change the direction of pop music by bringing new influences in its sound and unfortunately the public prefers to listen to  The Box, that such sound is saturated and needs musical growth and evolution.

But instead, you are associating the song with the charts. But i'm really glad that Gaga doesn't care for those type of people. Grow up.

It’s sad. I’m a little older than most on here and can say confidently that pre-streaming and what album campaigns meant was SO MUCH better. Songs literally come out and are nearly instantly disposed of if they don’t instantly smash.

Probably because don't start now just is swallowing it's trajectory. It's it's second week as the number #1 radio song.

As soon as they decide that it won't beat The Box they will start promoting Physical more.

A new version of the song will drop tomorrow it'll feature someone I forgot her name.

Is The Box blocking Don't Start Now  from #1 like Tick Tok blocked Bad Romance from #1?
