Runway 27,876
Because it’s all about the narrative. It’s not a popular opinion to dislike lady gaga anymore

BTW The Best Album 68
It's funny to see how people's view on Gaga changed through the years. I remember when there was only fans praising her on youtube videos, while nowadays I see a lot of comments from the GP pointing out that she's a legend. I think it was the C2C and ASIB effect. Shallow was starting to annoy me last year, because it played so much on everywhere and particularly I have aversion to modern mainstream music and the ones who follow this trends, not because they have the taste for it, but because they are only conformists. I remember when people looked weird at me when I told I liked Gaga, but it was just because I saw all the things they were missing about her. Now, the cattle are still being the cattle and I am here still being a little monster, since 2010/2011. When Gaga dies, the praise will be even greater. That's just how people are. Battle 4 Ur Life 6,721
yeah the OP already answers it and I think I can summarize it being too harsh back then to begin with. the fails were on the promotion and management of the product. the album is still a monument as far as female pop albums go and had its momentum dimmed down by a cynical industry and cruel and thoughtless mass media “Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”
Ziggy 11,920
experimental? Not really lol but I think it was a little bit for Top 40. It was louder, more aggressive, etc. So I think people are looking at it now like ok this was her at her wildest and we love that. It was ahead of its time in the sense that 2013 was all about minimalism and she went the MOST maximalist. Now we're there again so people can appreciate it. I think "ahead of its time" is a silly phrase in general because culture is cyclical. She dropped ARTPOP both behind the times and ahead of it, if that makes sense.
