Sorry but... AOC is in the right and Bernie and his campaign should get the biggest side-eye of the century for that, especially from the LGBT people that vocally support him. elizabeth warren was an anti-lgbt republican until 1996. joe biden was an anti-lgbt conservative until 2012. anyways, here's our boy bernard

As a trans GGD lurker, this thread has really shocked me in its disregard of the basic civil rights of the millions of trans people in the world. AOC is one of the few politicians to even mention our existence, let alone support us openly. Of course Bernie should be held accountable. That doesn't mean Joe Biden gets off the hook. The question at hand is not: "Is Sanders or Bernie better?" The questions are: 1) "How important it is for a politician to speak up for the trans and non-binary 1% of the population?" 2) and then "How important is the trans and non-binary 1% of the population to me?" mic drop. Over and out. p.s. Not gonna check back for transphobic replies. also, I love Lady Gaga. I hope you realize that "Sanders and Bernie" is the same person
Andy McQueen 4,484
It's not Sanders' fault that he gets endorsed by Joe Rogan or awful antisemites and fake-progressives like Linda Sarsour. And I don't mind he promoted the Rogan endorsement, because conservatives love Rogan. If he is in for democratic socialism, that's huge and republicans and right-wingers might overthink. So... What's the problem? And while I don't agree with Rogan on many things and it is horrible that he constantly invites stupid people to his podcast, the two claims of him in the article regarding transwomen in female sports and too-early puberty blockers represents my own views. Don't dare to call me transphobic now. I think it can *potentially* be harmful if children transition too early (everyone is different, but just google de-transitioners, it's way easier to wait and be really *sure* of your gender identity than regretting getting hormones and blockers afterwards and you can't change it back anymore -- I know it depends on each individual, but if I was a parent I would be very careful with this, of course there are positive examples too like Nikita Tutorials, but talking about people who regret early transitioning is not transphobic -- at such a young age not everyone is sure and I think waiting with transitioning sometimes could be a benefit...). Same with transwomen in sports. To claim it is transphobic just for aknowledging biology (biological sex that you are born with and gender as an identity and social construct are too different things, sorry) is ridiculous -- build sport teams especially for transwomen, don't be unfair to other women who don't have biological-male physics/strength. I totally get his point regarding this. Several feminists agree on this. I don't see it as marginalising a minority group when sports rely on physics and actually transwomen might have an anatomical/genetical advantage to biological-born women. Everyone is different, some are stronger, some less fit, but still, it has to be aknowledged. It's also not fair the other way around of course. I'm all for inclusion, but let's not pretend everyone is the same. Everyone is different and an unique individual and there are biological differences as well, like it or not. I also understand that female rape-survivors might feel unconfortable when they are in a locker room with people who have penises. It can reinforce trauma in some cases. Look at the studies. The suicidal rate of transwomen and transmen is still horrible, so I understand why we have to take action against discrimination as much as possible, but I think we still have to differentiate and be careful with identity politics from a feminist and patriachy-critical perspective as well. What matters to the politics of NOW is what politicians are doing right now and not what their opinions were almost 10-30 years ago. Matter of fact, it makes things so much more disappointing for Bernie because he walked the walk for LGBT people back in the day and now publically embraces somebody who stands for tea-party-ish right-wing fanatism. And all offense, him embracing a guy like that already shows that his campaign is on its last crutches and that he needs the endorsement of literally anybody with some sort of public recognition.
