If people, and I say, PEOPLE, don't support Putin why they keep votin on him or not votin at all? The world isn't a copy of america or england or france, democracy is problematic, it faces many problems; we have regional and cultural differences what I ment was that you cannot assume that Putin is an absurd or out of place when you look to Russia's history, again I'm not endorsing putin I'm sorry but democracy isn't a fairytale, go ask russians in who they voted! Again, that diversity is quashed - what does it matter what kind of diversity you're talking about when the government is forcing the status quo? Putin wasn't democratically elected... The first and last president that was democratically elected was Yeltsin... Who are people supposed to vote for when there's no opposition - it gets suppressed, often violently... Do you even know what state media is and what it does? You seriously think people are just gonna rile up and oppose the government they dislike when there's a whole list of independent journalists who did that and were killed? You don't think something like this sends out a very grim message to people who aren't happy with the way their country is run? Democracy isn't the term here, it's dictatorship... Also what strength are you referring to when it comes to their history? How does Russian history make them strong? Like, how at all is it relevant to the way things are dealt with nowadays? Also, you wanna talk about strength, lets talk about how Russia almost lost to Germany and would have lost if it wasn't for a streak of good luck and help from the British because they were greatly unprepared for the war... Where is that strength you're talking about? Where did I say the world was a copy of America? If you're gonna try and back your nonsence of an argument, at least come back with something semi-reasonable, otherwise sit the f down... Oh, and actually read up on Russian history cuz from the sound of it you don't know sh*t It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke! Wall Street, Billionaires and Politicians who do their bidding have all of the power and continue to do oppress the working class of this country (i.e. Oligarchy, not democracy). Wrong. Trump is the perfect example of this not being the case. Wall Street, the political establishment, and billionaires wanted Hillary for President. They couldn't stop Trump. The process may be heavily influenced by these groups, but it is possible to defeat them and attempting to do so doesn't risk your life being ended. DeleteMyAccount 11,881
Isn't there a large enough portion of Russia to rise up against this? And I know things are different in Russia, but I always see large protests against Putin.

Wall Street, the political establishment, and billionaires wanted Hillary for President. They couldn't stop Trump. The process may be heavily influenced by these groups, but it is possible to defeat them and attempting to do so doesn't risk your life being ended. Actually, that's not exactly true. 1. The republican primary is more democratic than the democratic primary. The reason Trump became the nominee had more to do with ego within the party (lack of coalescing among the establishment) as well as the difference between delegate allocation. In a republican primary there are winner take all states whereas the democratic primary is always allocated proportionately. So, it's much easier to beat the establishment in a republican primary compared to a democratic primary. 2. "Heavily Influenced." - tell me when the political establishment on the democratic side was defeated? Don't tell me Obama because he took just as much of that billionaire money as Hillary did while also taking in grassroots dollars. He was still corrupted just as everybody else. You could say McGovern, but then he only won 2 states in the general election because even his own party turned against him and went on a media campaign to destroy his candidacy and give the presidency to Nixon. So no, you aren't correct at the political establishment being defeated. Not to mention that Trump, after obtaining the presidency, has run the most establishment Republican presidency you could possibly have. He may have won but his administration and policies still reflect that of the billionaires that bolster BOTH political parties. You could argue that billionaires preferred Hillary and you would be correct but they weren't unhappy with what came as a result up until the last few weeks with corona virus. NightStar 313
Sweet mother of Jesus To anybody trying to say that Russia is neither terrible nor good and is just like any other European country under Putin's reign: 1. Have you ever inquired about intentional homicide rate in Russia and how it compares to other countries? There's nothing "European" about the amount of murders committed per 100,000 inhabitants in Russia. Obviously it's not Putin who commits them, but it's the questionable integrity of the police force which he had designed that allows such violence to exist. So long as the local police patrols are severely underemployed while the administration bodies of the police are over-employed, the police will be a welcome ground for those who want to make their career by either by arresting students who are trying to buy some weed, or by attacking the small and medium business or by arresting the protesters. The police services which he has built enable the violence in the society rather than try to combat it. 2. The anti-narcotics legislation which Putin himself signed is a system that allows the Penitentiary Service to fill the prison cells with drug-users. Nearly 27% of all people serving their sentences in prisons got there because of drug-related crimes. Without this legislation, the cells would be rather empty, because the younger generation in Russia is not very populous, while the Penitentiary Service is a giant-ass state corporation with one of the biggest budgets among such systems in the world. It needs prisoners because it's financing depends on the number of imprisoned people. Since it's generally younger people who are more inclined to commit a crime, and since Russian millennials (1986-2001) are one of the thinnest generations in the country's history, they need some additional reasons why to put young men in jail. This legislation is hurtful for the society and completely disregards the better ways to combat drug use which have been successfully tested in other countries. 3. He has completely undermined the federal status of the country by creating a centralized fiscal system during his first term. As a result, people in the country began to flood the capital since it was the place where half the country's wealth seemed to be concentrated. For many among the younger generation, it became a common thing to leave for Moscow either after school or after completing their studies in college. The population of a vast number of cities east to the Ural Mountains is melting. These cities are losing people, and their markets are losing revenue, and their businesses are losing revenue, and they either have to cut costs or shut down, and when businesses cut costs, they can offer less jobs for many younger people, and so many younger people have to leave for Moscow to find some job. It's a circle that. Coupled with the fact that after 20 years of his reign Putin could not come up with a better use for the oil-related budget incomes rather than invest them into wages of budget-employed people (whose job is now becoming more and more useless and can be performed online by a website) and skeptical social welfare, creates a rather fragile budget system that will solve each new crisis by dropping the national currency rate the way it did in 2009 and 2014. Russia does import a lot of its consumer goods. Dropping the national currency rate each time to improve the inherited self-imposed flaws of your own budget system will always lead to inflation shocks. I am not even talking about democracy! The guy has already f*cked so many things up on an absolutely grand scale that I wonder how people still find it in themselves to believe everything will stay the same if he prolongs his ass in this office for another 12 years. The longer he stays, the more mistakes he makes.
