So who did it? Where did it start? I thought it was Wuhan, maybe it was the moon then.

Come on, sis. You're better than that.

"The origin" should refer to practices, not physical origin because epidemics start in all different places for different reasons. The #1 reason is mutations and the initial lack of understanding of the disease--it's treated like a cold before people realize it's something much worse. By this time, the disease has started spreading. Yes, of course, China could do a lot of things better but the issue isn't wild meat. Neither is it hygiene, considering simple practices like handshakes can spread viruses very fast.

You have not provided a source for animals being caged and stored with their own feces around them. That's a claim you made and didn't back up.

The origin can refer to practices, location, who or what. Quoting the word mutation repeatedly doesn't change the fact that we still need to understand the source. What animal did it come from? How did it transmit? These are questions that are of importance in order to prevent it happening again.

So these US military officers didn’t take the virus back to the US in October and spread it?  How did they get it in the first place then?

Its not like we can trust any gov :air: look at the US, they have way too little reported infected people because they dont test people (but thats another conversation)

I dont think blaming whole countries/governements is the way to go. What are you gonna do with that? Feel a bit better because you can direct all the blame and the hate towards them? China didnt really know what they were dealing with, most of the early deaths arent even diagnosed because they resembled people dying from complications of a flu

Italy acted too late, but once again we cant blame them and should now support them instead of blaming them

Yea... The Trump admin is failing miserably at containing this and the dems are not helping that much either.

I think we can all agree that we're not necessarily blaming anyone because we want to. It has to do with this thread telling us about how China is placing the blame on the US military. So we are just sharing how the Chinese on the other hand dropped the ball with this one and they shouldn't be placing the blame on anyone else, when they failed to take precautionary measures to contain the virus.

The Chinese stats is not something we can trust and that's a really big problem because within one month more than half of the world became infected. So how long did the Chinese knew about this and kept it under wraps.

Even when trump placed the travel ban on China earlier, the Chinese government condemned the US for doing so, even though we all knew how dangerous the Coronavirus is. All these little things just makes me believe that China knew and censored it until it couldn't have been censored anymore.

We know it likely came from bats. We also know many such viruses have come from different animals from different parts of the world and through different modes (HIV, ebola, SARS, etc.). They do not share much in common except the fact that these viruses mutated and one-upped us. Viruses are extremely difficult to deal with and in the absence of true antiviral drugs (that work like antibiotics but for viruses), the best thing we can do is to prepare our medical infrastructures and treat all patients, including those who present with cold symptoms, seriously from now on. We must encourage  and promote things that'll stop transmission from one human to another. We cannot stop an outbreak from starting in the first place again in the future (because my "repeatedly quoted word" IS the key to this issue) but we can prevent it from becoming a pandemic and that's what we should be focusing on.

In my opinion, that makes criticism of the Chinese healthcare infrastructure fully valid. Blaming it on wild meat? Not it.

There really is no need to be like this.

Virus just isn’t something to GIVE. Chinese people are not giving the virus to anyone. They are suffering from and dying because of it, just like any other people in the world.

At least plz stop being so insensitive and show some basic human sympathy.

People? How a country that has started several wars wouldn’t do something like that? Of course US want to keeps its agenda of maintaining its world imperialism and it will do it in anyways they can, including spreading diseases. People here needs a lesson on history, but outside your ‘white’ bubble lol. Also the racism on this thread makes me sick.

I don't usually believe in conspiracy theories but it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities. :vegas: The US government and military have ALWAYS been up to shady business and a lot of former conspiracy theories were eventually confirmed. NOT saying this is the case but don't discount it just like that.

It would be another thing if the US were actually transparent with their military operations. They're not. :madge:

So true.

People laughing every conspiracy off like if it wasn't often confirmed afterwards needs to look back a bit more.

I hope it's not one tho. :/

Many believe it to be pangolins and not bats. I think we are arguing 2 different points. My post is in response to "does it matter where it started?" and the answer to that is simply yes, it matters.

"Public-health officials want to pin down the virus’s source so they can prevent new outbreaks. Scientists assume that the pathogen jumped to people from an animal, as has been seen with other coronaviruses; for example, the virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is thought to have jumped to humans from civets in 2002. "

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-00548-w

The article goes on to discuss pangolins being a sought after underground commodity and live animal markets but studies have yet to find a source in the Wuhan market.

Point is, it is negligent to say it doesnt matter where it comes from. The critic on China isnt apart of my argument here.

Anyway does it really matter where it originated from? Not really right  its now a global pandemic and the last thing we should do is point fingers towards eachother to blame them

And asking China to pay for the damage cause WW is kinda... Dumb? Idk thats not how diseases work :air: they don't go around and hop on a plane to go sunbath in Italy

It just happened to spread to there because China couldnt control it but looking everywhere else, other countries are struggling too so why blame China for this? They didnt create this virus, its not their fault

Yes, it does matter where it originated from.

COVID-19 originated from a Wuhan wet market and so did SARS in 2004. When SARS blew up in 2004, the Chinese government banned the practice of wet markets. Once the storm cleared, they opened them back up again for the economic gain (Chinese wet markets are a $100 billion industry). Had we held them more accountable, we would not be dealing with COVID19 right now.

If the world fails to hold China - and other countries - accountable for wet markets this time, who's to say they won't just open them back up again like in 2004 and the trend continues?
