GreekGod 1,085
Efendi will represent Azerbaijan this year at Eurovision with an Egyptian themed song and music video. She used the stickers from Haus Labs as well. She also sings LGBT supportive lyrics “straight or gay or in between”. What do you think? She did THAT ? CautiousLurker 17,750
Idk... I'm ok with some pandering but not when it's this on the nose - it just feels like it was made by the numbers, but who knows, maybe she genuinely means what she's singing about... maybe Men are naturally more dominating, aggressive, and logical thinking because we have balls. You see Azerbaijan is trying to reshape its image in general. It is a European nation that is Muslim but Secular but also conservative culturally in some aspects like sexuality & politics. It is split between Russia's influence and a desire to Westernize and liberalize. For her to sing about gay rights etc..is a big deal. It is a sign of courage but also a sign of the changing tides in Azerbaijan, For this song to be chosen by Azerbaijan to represent them in Eurovision with those lyrics is a nice sign of hope! The song is arguably weak and the lyrics are for sure on the nose but when a nation is making progress like this we should totally support it! I'll reserve my skepticism for this since a lot of places try to appeal to the LGBT community through pop culture and not legislation which is what actually matters - reshaping the image doesn't mean life actually gets better for marginalized groups... Meanwhile, there are a lot of people who will align themselves with LGBT rights suspiciously quickly if it means they can get their money Men are naturally more dominating, aggressive, and logical thinking because we have balls.
