craig 680
Bill also adds: "The new #Hot100 has a target chart ratio of sales (35-45%), airplay (30-40%) and streaming (20-30%). These change based on platform volume." But TS beat HS by a higher percentage on radio, than HS beat TS on streaming. I guess you get so many points for so many streams. But they let high streaming count too much.

Harry 26,836
It's just so complicated. They should have a set ratio for every week and sales should count for FAR more than airplay and streaming.

nick4bty 2,758
At this rate they might as well just allow artists to give away a song for free on iTunes just to get a #1. What if it's Lady Gaga? lol That's fine. But Katy Perry? Let's be real... :lolgaga:

BROSEIDON 1,214
What if it's Lady Gaga? lol My mom and I actually discussed this when Katy tied the 5 #1's. We agreed that out of all mainstream pop acts, Gaga is the only one that really deserves to take that record. She works hard on her music and doesn't half ass it. She is very much like a female MJ. WarriorPrince 1
The new rules will be pretty bad for Gaga. I can already feel meltdowns. But now idk how someone can take the Hot 100 chart seriouslly.
Tommymonster44 0
The new rules will be pretty bad for Gaga. I can already feel meltdowns. But now idk how someone can take the Hot 100 chart seriouslly. This rule change is great for Gaga. In fact, it's good news for all of the pop girls as well as 1D and JB. Gaga always generates massive buzz on Youtube. Even her least successful single with it's 10 minute long video broke records. It's very likely that her career so far would have been even more successful than it already was. Bad Romance would have probably gone number one. Y&I, Judas, and Marry The Night all had successful videos that would have boosted it's chart position. The Telephone video was almost viral when it was released. I'm sure it could have helped her out then, too.
Ty3009 232
@Bwerde Does the new Billboard Hot 100 rule include live performances on YouTube as well Response: it would if they generated enough plays @bwerde Wait! I have the ultimate question. If I covered pop songs on trombone and they blow up on YT, can I chart on the Hot 100? haha Response: yes. Good luck getting to 20 million views tho. @silpiet Are you including parody views in this? Response: As long as actual audio of a song is used in the clip, yes. I feel like there's a contradiction here. So the actual audio of the single has to be used in the clip but covers and live performances also count? Also, how much of the song needs to be played in a clip for it to count?

Tommymonster44 0
really...was it something similar to GS or HS Haha you know what I mean. Back when Telephone was released, the video was almost an event. It generated so much buzz and was her fastest growing video up until MTN.
