Billboard's charts are officially a joke now. They might have been thinking about implementing this formula for a while now, but let's be real here. Someone obviously had some connections for this to so conveniently happen when Harlem Shake took off AND the week of the Grammy's.

Now even if we speak hypothetically for a moment and we say that the Grammy week and Harlem Shake's launch was really a coincidence, Billboard is still a joke.

If I were the people making the chart, I would have noticed that this was a terrible date to put this formula into action because of conflict of interest. That's like a writer for a newspaper reporting on a case where the defendant is their brother. You automatically assume that the author is fabricating information to defend their brother. And even if this guy was the most honest man on the planet and didn't fabricate information, there's no way as an editor that I would allow this guy to write the story anyways because it would appear to the public as though he is lying.

This just goes to show how unprofessional and amateur Billboard is anymore.

Plus aren't VEVO views worldwide? Are they not gonna separate the US views from worldwide views? If not, then it isn't a US chart anymore

Omg Ke$ha is so dead hahahaha.

Furreal though, I think the entire Hot 100 is going to change bigtime in the coming weeks. We could actually be seeing a surge in Bieber and 1D and Rihanna songs. Seriously with these rules, we could have a Rihanna or Katy or Bieber exclusive Top 3 at some point. This is scary. And the fact that they're counting anything with the official audio in it? This has to be a joke. Where did this even come from? What's the formula? This is shady as ****.

And it's also a coincidence that they wrote half of their weekly article about Harlem Shake. Mmhmm.

It would probably go #1, but only for a week - like someone else said, with these rules, there could literally be a new #1 every single week. Although didn't Gaga say she wanted to make a video for everyone song on ARTPOP? inb4 every song on the album goes #1

I bet they did it for the Grammies. Rihanna conveniently had a video released the same week.

But she couldn't beat Thrift Shop or HS.

Lady Gaga and Rihanna are gonna have a view-inflation war now.

"RIHANNAS VIDEO HAS 8 BILLION VIEWS AFTER 24 HOURS"

"LADY GAGA TOPS RIHANNA WITH 9 TRILLION VIEWS IN 2 HOURS"

Katy and Rihanna were so dominant on radio, I wouldn't focus on them as beneficiaries.

Especially if non-US Rihanna youtube views are screened out..

I think Youtube views should count but only for a small amount. It's way too easy to manipulate views. Plus, the fact that Harlem Shake got to #1 over Thrift Shop shows that they gave Youtube views too much weight. Thrift Shop outsold HS, has much higher airplay, and is doing pretty well on Youtube too. Harlem Shake only beat Thrift Shop in views this week.

It reminds me of One More Night and Gangnam Style again, where GS had OMN beat in every area except airplay in some weeks.

But on the other hand, I can't complain because this rule is a huge benefit to Gaga if she stops directing her own videos.

Welp.

Billboard's Editor tweeted this:

@bwerde radio should be obsoleted. YouTube & streaming are much more relevant. Radio just plays same artists over & over again

@bwerde love the new formula, would be better if radio's percentage kept decreasing due to radio deals

Radio is done! Don't have to worry about that now! So, Rihanna and Katy are now at a HUGE disadvantage because a lot of their chart performance was based on radio airplay. I'm secretly glad. I don't want another scenario where a song that is selling relatively average sales stays at #1 for 9 WEEKS because of airplay (OMN) and a song that was HUGE didn't get to #1 because of radio (GS). I think Bilboard has wholesome intentions and does this because they believe it reflects what's truly popular and I don't blame them.

Gaga and Britney got their #1's in the bag b---hes! DA LAWD IS GOOD.

Beauty and a Beat tops 2million

Home tops 4million

Sexy and I Know it tops 6million

when did this happen?

when did this happen?

No. Have you see Rihanna Youtube views? she is the most watched female artist on Youtube, she have alot of videos with 100M. Even CKB and MD have alot of views. Katy have alot of views too.
