Exactly. And as you've mentioned, Poker Face and Telephone were great examples of that. They were successful and had longevity in the charts largely because of the support of the GP. A fanbase could only initiate an early success, but it will be the GP that would mainly sustain such success in the long run. Instead of alienating the GP, why not pander what they want? Isn't it the purpose of the singles to begin with? Aren't albums catered more for the fans and the singles are much focused on catering the GP?

Everything you said is true. :Jase:

Idk I was kidding but I think that Wide Awake was also discounted when it was close to number 3-1 '-'

Ho Hey just really needs to die already. It's a pretty good song, but being that my local radio has been supporting it since school started last August. I'm so sick of it. People complain about how much the pop girls are overplayed, but this song has been in power rotation for seven months. That's just unheard of. I don't believe that one of our pop girls has ever had a song on the radio that long, have they?

At first it started off as a sleeper hit floating near the bottom of the top 20 and top 10 for months on end. If that wasn't already tiring enough, it's now gotten a gradual and prolonged burst to the top of the chart. I don't understand the radio's infatuation with this song and why it has been on power rotation for what is now nearing a year.

Of course, the radio always overplays the same old material, but it's been worse than usually lately. Whistle, Wild Ones, Home, Ho Hey, It's Time, etc. have been on repeat for almost a year now. Even back in 2010 when everything seemed to be ruled by pop there was more variety than this.

iTunes

178. Krewella - Alive

325. Cher Lloyd - With Ur Love

364. Justin Bieber - All Around the World (feat. Ludacris)

412. Marina and The Diamonds - How to Be a Heartbreaker

583. OneRepublic - If I Lose Myself

1258. Justin Bieber - Right Here (feat. Drake)

Marina doesn't seem to be going much anywhere. Radio reluctant to add spins. OneRepublic much lower than expected. Right Here is Justin's Rhythmic single gaining spins, but extremely low on iTunes. Pop single AATW looks like it will do well.

Harlem Shake is becoming a trend in my country :fail:

I think it's going to be the Gangam Style of 2013, but won't be even worthy to compare with GS's succes
