Ozzy8923 9
Adele's song was too big to budge. With all these mega one-hit wonders, I don't know...... my doubts are high. :famous:

I just want it to be #1

Ozzy8923 9
IIwab came before single ladies... They were a dual release. "If I Were a Boy" was released by Columbia Records on October 12, 2008, as the album's lead single alongside "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)", showcasing the contrast between Knowles' persona as herself and her aggressive onstage alter ego Sasha Fierce. Mills 446
Post-album #1 singles are quite rare these days. Even Rihanna has not sent a post-album single to #1 since TTT and it seems the same could be happened to Unapologetic. All of Britney Spears' HOT 100 #1s are lead singles. And while Katy Perry was very successful in her Teenage Dream era, Wide Awake failed to hit #1 and that's after the release of her re-release. And 2 of the 3 #1s of Gaga are lead singles also. Taylor Swift might also not have a post-album #1hit, considering the performances of her last singles, particularly IKYWT. I guess, it's really difficult at this age to have a #1 hit other than the lead single in general. But I'm hoping that at the end of the day, if the single is really good, it'd hit #1, regardless if it's the lead single or the fourth single of an album. Otherwise, everyone would arguably follow Rihanna's footsteps for an annual release of new albums just to produce lead singles at the top spot of the HOT 100 chart every year. That's exhausting. Mills 446
true but I'm hoping ARTPOP will change that. Same here. Hoping only the best for ARTPOP. I'd really love for Gaga to equal the HOT 100 #1s of Beyonce and Britney. :Kara:
Tommymonster44 0
Had TEOG been released after Born This Way, I think it would have had a chance at number one. It might have still got stuck at two, though, as Adele was such a huge force in 2011. I'm really hoping that Gaga can pull two number ones this era, but one seems to be the more realistic outlook. I don't see her having problems selling singles as long as they come out before the album. She does have a massive following, after all. Judas was just a fluke. I'm more concerned about how the radio will support the era. They will definitely support the first single just because it's Gaga, but Born This Way reminded us that they will not continuously play every single she releases based off of brand alone. Especially considering she'll be experimenting with EDM. The radio still hasn't embraced the genre much.

Americano 31,061
ARTPOP will probs have more headwinds now that Gaga couldnt even finish touring the US ,her most important market. Good thing she left it for last!

That's where the pre-album singles would play an important part to keep the momentum going for the longevity of the era itself, I guess. Any lead single is already almost a guaranteed smash hit, hence the choice for the second single will be much more vital. With how the post-album singles perform in general, I'd prefer at least two singles would be released before the actual drop of the album, in order to maximize the support of her following. Dangerous Man 9,245
One Way or Another is decreasing heavily. Guess it will fall like a rock. :emo: 4 Rihanna - Stay (feat. Mikky Ekko) 0.5078 5 Bruno Mars - When I Was Your Man 0.4922 as expected, WIWYM will finally overtake Stay. "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body."
