Glad to know that Gaga wasnt expecting to release Y&I as a single, it was such a bad choice.

It was a good choice for the US. Country Rock is a popular genre in the US, and Y&I was already very exposed there. Crappy choice WW.

Looking back, I'm not sure MTN ever really would have smashed. It's a great song, but I remember seeing lots of comments about it only just "growing" on fans after the video was released. If it took that long to grow on fans, how long would it take to catch on to the public?

Outside of Scream and Shout and I Knew You Were Trouble, the top 10 ranges from bearable to flat-out great. And even IKYWT teeters on the border between lame and bearable.

This is a nice change of pace from how things were most of last year.

So how about this? Home has been out for months and and I barely realized this week that that's the song with that hook. I thought it was a different song. Just thought Home was a basic country song. If you don't know which hook I'm talking about (although it's kind of obvious), just listen to the song again and look for the "oooh's" that sound that they belong in an alternative Imagine Dragons/Lumineers-ish song :laughga:

Congratulations to Kelly Clarkson as Catch My Breath vaults from 12-10, extending her lead for the most Adult Pop Songs top 10 hits. If only CMB would just out of nowhere zoom to the top of the HOT 100 chart. Well, if only... RCA better push that song further.

Late to the singles talk party, but what the hell! :laughga:

I think Gaga might have been using her hindsight skills when saying what singles she wanted off Born This Way. I think she was all for releasing Judas originally, at least she sounded that way in interviews. She also said she expected 7+ singles off Born This Way, so I the ones she mentioned on Little Monsters were her "if I could go back and redo it" choices. She also said she wanted to release Hair as a single after it came out or at least hinted at it as she mentioned what she envisioned for its music video. "I want every wig I've ever owned flying across the screen" or something like that. I don't remember which interview it was though.

I completely understand that and wouldn't blame them, but the fact they pulled the plug right after the Christmas freeze was over was just plain stupid... I saw so many "flopping" songs rise to the top 20 or top 10 after this new year started.

I still stand by my opinion the song would have flopped anyways, but I still think the song could have peaked a bit higher and had more longevity if radio stuck with it for longer than it did.

I get what your saying. The Christmas freeze really did hurt it. I'm assuming that it wouldn't have been a hit, but had it been released at a more convenient time, it wouldn't have peaked at 29 either.

Glad to know that Gaga wasnt expecting to release Y&I as a single, it was such a bad choice.

It was a big hit here in the US and was a source of major critical acclaim.

For as much as Europeans make fun of Americans lateness on EDM trends, it's sort of ironic that they also ignore so many American trends. Y&I was a spectacular song, but it didn't have a place in Europe and many other non-US markets.

Both of their albums would sell huge, well hopefully. And as for Britney, I'm expecting a 6th HOT 100 #1 for her with her next album as her lead singles always do tremendously well. She would arguably also get her 7th #1 album in the Billboard 200, and in the process tie with Madonna for the second most #1 albums among female artists.

 I expect a Top 5 because the new rules are kinda shaky with Britney. But if she starts off the way she did with HIAM (great airplay debuts, amazing sales, and streaming on Spotify) then I think it's a possibility and with how easy it to to get a #1 now 130-140K sales, she'll easily do it.
