Katy needs "similar but different" - a huge transformation would be risky, but the Dr. Luke formula is getting tired so if she puts out C'Mon type songs she's get C'mon type results.

I really believe that GaGa is having trouble writing songs and hits for her new album; hence, the push back.

I think it will be late Q3 of 2013 before we get an album.

EDIT: She was so confident with BTW prior to it's release. It makes me nervous that she isn't embracing ARTPOP as much. I'm really worried about his album.

Well, she wrote over 50 songs for ARTPOP, so the songs are not the problem I think. But I do think that she's having creative problems right now, possibly regarding performances, music videos and that additional stuff. Or perhaps she has creative differences with her label... You know, they might want to take more control over her career. Or they just want to release the album in a different time of the year.

The confusion and delays started after she presented ARTPOP's material to the label. It's plausible that the label is the reason behind the delay.

I really think she exaggerated that number, maybe to ease us. We all know not to take everything she says to heart lol

It's all speculation. In no way am I saying I know exactly what is going on, but I will say that I'm concerned / worried.

He's definitely a one hit wonder. But it doesn't matter because Thrift Shop is amazing!

She already had 4 mega-singles and 3 other huge hits using that formula. If she tries to do it again it'll be old and dated. She needs to reinvent her ideas for the next era again.

See: Taylor Swift

OH, 'MY'!: As Fox's "American Idol" begins its 12th season, Kelly Clarkson, the series' original champion (2002), widens her lead for the most Adult Pop Songs top 10s among women (12), as "Catch My Breath" rises 12-10.

If it continues with its momentum, Thrift Shop would most likely end the lengthy reign of LOOH atop the HOT 100 chart. And I'm quite excited that it could. It's quite a fun song to listen to. And it's great to see relatively fresh acts topping the charts.

Thrift Shop continues the trend of Fun-Gotye-Carly Rae-PSY - new monster hit from unknown act every quarter.

Must be damn frustrating for the industry when none of the big new hits lead to sustained album-tour sales or the creation of new stars.

Actually fun. album has sold 903K in the US alone and peaked at #3 in the US and Gotye's album sold around 700K in the US and peaked at #6 so they were fairly successful in the albums field.

I wonder how Gaga would fare against incoming hit from an unknown act? Those type of hits usually have a special appeal to them, which makes it really strong.
