That's where the pre-album singles would play an important part to keep the momentum going for the longevity of the era itself, I guess. Any lead single is already almost a guaranteed smash hit, hence the choice for the second single will be much more vital. With how the post-album singles perform in general, I'd prefer at least two singles would be released before the actual drop of the album, in order to maximize the support of her following.

This. And the second single's success depends on its appeal to the GP. Poker Face and Telephone aren't risky so I thought they made a good decisions with that. Judas was not really a good choice but I thought the song will do well at first but nah, the GP were blinded by the illuminati issue and it didn't appeal to them. And I bet gaga will not be doing the same thing again and hoping she learned from that mistake. It'll be good if she release non-risky, light and catchy songs on her first two singles for ARTPOP. Then she can release whatever songs for the next singles.

And I'm also hoping she can still do cultural impacts without making too much controversies.

I think the first three singles should always at least reach the Top 10 and then the artist is free to do whatever he/she pleases. 3 Top 10's per era is very solid and I think after that is guaranteed, there's room for either 1 or 2 singles that can flop to the pits of hell. It worked with Britney. After she got the 3 Top 10's, fans didn't really care if Criminal flopped or not and no one overreacted. Same with Rihanna after the 3 #1's from LOUD and the flopping of California King Bed and Man Down. And Beyonce after IIWAB, SL, & Halo and then the flopping of Diva and Ego. No one really cared that they flopped because they all managed 3 successful hits. Gaga should try to do that so if singles 4 and forward flop, no one would overreact (we all know people overreacted to MTN because it was her first real flop and it missed the Top 10).

Let me do some listing cause I'm bored.

Exactly. And as you've mentioned, Poker Face and Telephone were great examples of that. They were successful and had longevity in the charts largely because of the support of the GP. A fanbase could only initiate an early success, but it will be the GP that would mainly sustain such success in the long run. Instead of alienating the GP, why not pander what they want? Isn't it the purpose of the singles to begin with? Aren't albums catered more for the fans and the singles are much focused on catering the GP?

Here for Stay to literally stay in the upper half of the top 10 of iTunes for weeks to come.

As for C'Mon, even though it's my favourite from Ke$ha, I can no longer imagine it reaching the top 20 of the HOT 100 chart. It's either RCA will wait until C'Mon leaves the HOT 100 entirely or a new single be released as soon as possible. The only chance, I guess, for C'Mon to enter the top 10 is if Ke$ha would perform it in top-rated, highly-publicized events such as the Idol finale or the Billboard Music Awards, both slated for the second quarter of this year. That's too long from now, unless C'Mon turns out as a sleeper hit this year - which I really doubt. :toofunny:

In the tug of war between TS and HS, I'm all for TS. And it seems it'd still enjoy more weeks atop the HOT 100 chart, thanks to radio and its consistent strong digital sales. As for the newly released single of 1D, a cover of the hit Blondie song, I expect it to stay at #1 for the rest of the week with the music video's being expected to be released soon. That will hold HS from reaching #1 again in iTunes, at least for a while.

People will always overreact at Gaga floping... and I prefer only 3 singles - succesful rather than 5 singles - 3 succesful and 2 underperforming... the best thing will be ARTPOP - 12/13 songs - 4 singles - all top 10 hits - 2 number 1 hits and 2 top 5 hits :pawsup:
