saltface 178
Oh, seems that One Way Or Another is smashing really hard on itunes rn. It might debut inside the top 10 of BB if it keeps like that. When will your fave? My fave did, at #1, and stayed there for 6 weeks :hor:

Mills 446
Her last second was was YDO, which failed miserably. Rated R's second single was Hard, which peaked at 8. This song has already done better than both of those songs. Stay isn't the largest second single, but it's important to look at the song in context with the rest of Rihanna's career. This single's performance is meeting the realistic expectations that should be expected of a second Rihanna single. Exactly. Stay is doing well, compared to her previous second singles from GGGB, Rated R, and TTT. The second singles from GGGB and TTT did not even enter the top 10 of the HOT 100. That alone makes it impressive. And given that the competition right now is strong, it still manages to be within the top five of iTunes. One of the best single covers I've seen in a while It is. I like it. Stay is doing very well for a second single. Let's not forget that this is her first second single since 2009 to NOT benefit from fan sales. Because both YDO and WMN were released before the album so fans were motivated to buy the single since they didn't have it. That also includes Judas. Gaga's last second single. Who knows where it would of peaked without the fan sales? :toofloppy: Anyways, this is really the first time in a long time that Rihanna took a longer break between singles. WMN was released while OG was still charting and it actually reached #1 BEFORE OG did! That's how close together those singles were. And YDO was released 6 weeks after WFL. This time her label actually waited a good 4 months to release Stay to radio, release the video, and promote it. I feel like this era will be more organized and less rushed. Maybe a longer break between albums? A spring/summer 2014 release instead of November 2013? It all comes to question. Glad to see her taking it slow. I would not mind too for a 2014 release for Rihanna's 8th studio album. With the Diamonds World Tour this year, it seems highly possible for the annual release tradition not to continue this year. Math 92
Exactly. Stay is doing well, compared to her previous second singles from GGGB, Rated R, and Unapologetic. Babel 41,493
My fave did, at #1, and stayed there for 6 weeks Damn, seems like it was ages ago when Gaga dominated the charts, and it's been only less than two years. I seriously can't wait for the lead single to be released. If she pulls the EDM card mixed with pop like Titanium or Sweet Nothing, something "safe" but still not generic, I'll be more than thankful. AND I'm pretty sure she can do it. Just imagine the domination of Gaga worldwide with a stronger and starving fanbase than ever, and catchy songs that are relatable to the general public? Be prepared for her most powerful era. :legend:

With the Diamonds World Tour this year, it seems highly possible for the annual release tradition not to continue this year. This upcoming recording will be her final release under her 8 album contract with Def Jams, which has me wondering how it will play out. It seems like Rihanna wants out of this long-term contract already to move on with her life and her career, so I would assume she wants to stick with the normal annual cycle. On the other hand, Def Jams might be worried she won't return immediately, which is a huge possibility. She's one of the hottest people in the industry now and they want to run with it, not take a break. If she goes on a musical leave, even a short one, she might never be a huge musical force again. That leaves me to believe that her label really wants to prolong Unapologetic and the remaining album. These are all assumptions, of course. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I simply just cannot wait for her 4th HOT 100 #1, and I'm quite more than convinced that ARTPOP would bring it - with all the anticipation and thirst for a new music material from her. And speaking of 4, if ever she'd have her 4th HOT 100 #1 hit from ARTPOP, it would come from her 4th major release then.
