Mills 446
Still hoping that Gaga would one day win the GRAMMY Album of the Year. Hopefully ARTPOP would be her lucky 4th charm in that award. And speaking of ARTPOP, one of its producers, Zedd has sent his own single, Clarity, atop the Dance / Club Play Songs chart. Congratulations, Zedd!
boysboysboys 278
Despite the reported heavy politics involved, the GRAMMYs is still the music industry's most illustrious award-giving body to an extent that it's already synonymous to the celebration of the industry itself. It's being regarded, for decades already, as the highest recognition in the same way the film industry has the OSCARs, the television industry has the EMMYs, and those in theatre has the TONYs. At the end of the day, regardless of the issues and controversies, arguably every musician's dream is to win a GRAMMY. And for Gaga, as a female pop star who pushes the envelope, to win not just 1 GRAMMY but 5 for two consecutive years, it's already an astounding accomplishment. She's also among those who've been heavily nominated for the past years, considering she's a pop star. Same goes with Rihanna who has won 6 GRAMMYs (or 7 if you'd consider Rihanna's claim), well half of them is due to her collaboration with Kanye West. Both Gaga and Rihanna have accumulated GRAMMYs in such a short period of time, compared to the likes of Madonna who has won 7 GRAMMYs in a 3-decade career and Mariah Carey who has 5 GRAMMYs in a two-decade career. It seems the GRAMMYs, as a whole, is embracing these female pop stars more than they used to - which is a good thing. We're allowed to have our own opinions and perspectives, PokerFist. AURA 2,890
so your saying grammy is a joke coz Katy can't have grammys? I love katy and all the songs in teenage dream but If i were one of the judges, neither I will gave her a grammy. She needs more mature music. She needs to improve her vocals. She's not Taylor Swift that can release whatever song she likes then submit it and the grammy will accept it. She needs to prove more of herself. Well, if the rumor is true that she'll be releasing darker music on her next album, she might win next time. Even if I don't agree that katy should have a grammy yet, I never and will never dissed her for being a non-grammy artist or laugh because of it. I respect her and her music. Plus, grammy is not the only relevant music award show nowadays. Katy already earned respect even without grammys. ------------- Stay is currently number 2 on itunes and will take over Ho hey soon. while WIWYM is also rising. Can't wait for these ballads to slay dem charts... No, I didn't say GRAMMYS are joke because Katy didn't win any. GRAMMYS are a joke in general. I don't think Rihanna deserved all her wins, neither did Chris Brown, or many other artists. If I'm not wrong some of the biggest names in music never had a Grammy (G'n'R , Bon Jovi I think, etc). They aren't as based on quality of music as they say. :) Firework was Grammy-worthy tbh.
Mills 446
We're allowed to have our own opinions and perspectives, PokerFist. And I do respect your opinion. I'm just speaking how the GRAMMYs in general is being regarded, well at least what I presumed to be the majority, as the highest form of recognition in the music industry. But that does not necessarily mean that it's not restricted from criticisms. Like any other institutions, it does. It's the essence of democracy. And I think these criticisms would be helpful for the GRAMMYs to somewhat re-evaualte itself, if there's anything to be changed with how the system works. Because I do agree with you. There's a huge room for improvement in the GRAMMYs that needs to be attended to - for the betterment of all, I guess.
Americano 31,061
Of course Rihanna would have 6 Grammys with how much she collaborates and puts out music every single year. If anything, with how much she puts out, it should be
boysboysboys 278
Of course Rihanna would have 6 Grammys with how much she collaborates and puts out music every single year. If anything, with how much she puts out, it should be 600 What's even more puzzling is they're production victories. And then with the whole popularity thing and industry camping with the Grammys, plus Team Rihanna's aggressiveness and tendency to cross the line... Bah, whatever :P The reggae tribute sounded amazing.

Bad 32
Thrift Shop is still #1 on iTunes if you count both versions. I'm glad that Stay is becoming a hit though. The Grammy's really helped it. If only the music video wasn't a snoozefest.
